Two brothers trying the deal with the death of their parents are hit with more tragedy when their friend is found dead. Mike the you get brother fears his brother Jody will leave him behind and skip town so he follows him everywhere he goes to make sure he sticks around. Still scarred after seeing his parents bodies when they died Mike is not allowed attend the funeral of their friend but he still turns up and hides out of site watching. When everyone leaves the grave side the Tall Man shows up and lifts the coffin on his own and drives away with it Mike takes it up on himself to investigate what is happening to the bodies and what he finds is beyond bizarre.

It been a good few years since I last watch Phantasm and it remains a highly entertaining film today. Full of likeable characters even if Mike starts out pretty annoying but as the film goes on he redeems himself and is a lot easier to put up with. Angus Scrimm is perfect as The Tall Man his look is imposing and he is a great presence when ever he is on screen. Phantasm starts out as a creepy horror then moves into the bizarre and in the third act it shifts again into the surreal without going too far and becoming confusing or mixed up. As I said already very entertaining and fun film.

Well, I did. It's a miracle (not really)
Anywho some soldiers see some weird shit in Iraq. A couple of cops find a dead baby in a bin and a crazy woman in a zoo.
Seemingly based on real events (what isn't nowadays [emoji849]). It starts off rather dull. The second half does pick but is hardly an improvement. The only genuinely decent sequence was the exorcism scene, but there is so much crap to get through before that.

Our Evil (2017)

Brazilian horror thriller about a man who can talk to the dead who is told a demon is returning to take his daughter's life. The man then comes up with a convoluted plan involving a hitman to deal with the situation.

Although very slow moving, Our Evil is an engrossing film, certainly more drama than horror, but when there is horror it's there to shock and it's quite graphic in the slice and dice department, which when added to the intensely bleak atmosphere gave the impression this could become a modern great.

However i did feel the film came to an almost standstill during it's second half which was a shame as the first was riveting. While the denouement works i was left with that feeling that this would have worked far better as part of an anthology.

It is, even if the odd snippet of The Doors was here and there. The exorcist scene is still great

Arrow's set really made me love this series, the first film is a masterpiece, never understood them when i first saw them back in the late 90's but love them now. Weird, creepy, amazing!

After the events of Phantasm Mike is taken to a psychiatric ward and after years of treatment he convinces doctors that nothing he claims he saw happened and they agree to release him but Mike is not done with The Tall Man. His first port of call is Reggie who he convinces to help him track down and stop the madness of The Tall Man. Mike also has this connection with a beautiful blonde who he sees in his dreams constantly who he must find before The Tall Man gets to her first.

The fun factor is turned up a notch for Phantasm II with more of an action approach. There is a lot more gore and better effects this time around and annoying Mike has been replaced with an adult less annoying Mike  For me Reggie the the star of this show he wants to burn shit blow up shit cut up shit shoot shit and f*** shit  I totally forgot to mention in the review of the first film about how great the music is and part II is no different it uses the music from the first film but builds upon it. Fun film from start to finish keeps up a great place and the time just flies by.
