Bloody good laugh.

"I love the smell of cheerleader camp in the morning"

Ha,ha. One of the films cleaner lines.

Did the idea of getting strippers to be cheerleaders appeal, Dave Boy? :woot:

Thank you Justin, an even better deal. :thankingyou:

Magnum force.

Clint Eastwood is back again as Dirty harry callahan in this great sequel.
When a mobster called Ricca gets off for murder in court he and his gang are brutally murdered by a vigilante traffic cop. Clint eastwood and his new black partner are then assigned to the case. Later more murders mount up, including a pimp who'd poured drain cleaner down one of his hookers throat.

though i didnt think this was quite up to the standard of the first film, it is still a top notch watch with great action and excitement.

More classic one liners as well, when a young chinese girl who lives in the flat below Dirty harry, asks him, what does a girl have to do to go to bed with you? and he answers, try knocking on the door.
and when his superior, Lt Biggs gives him the usual telling off for excessive force, saying, in all my years i have never had to get my gun out of it's holster, Clint answers, a mans got to know his limitations.

Excellent, and with a great motor bike chase finale as well.
And also co starring David soul from Starkey and hutch. 92.5 out of 100.

Detroit Rock City (1999)

When it comes to the soundtrack, this film about four college kids on a quest to get Kiss tickets at Detroit's legendary Cobo Hall in 78, is almost the equal of Richard Linklater's Dazed and Confused, with the likes of AC/DC, Ramones, Black Sabbath, Cheap Trick, Bowie, Thin Lizzy, The Sweet and of course Kiss themselves.

Sadly where it falls short isn't so much the story but the four guys at the heart of it. I find it really hard to root for them and they come across at times as quite unpleasant with some of the things they attempt such as threatening to steal Kiss tickets from youngsters. Only Edward Furlong of the four comes over as memorable. However the film has a decent cast of support players including Shannon Tweed, Melanie Lynskey, Natasha Lyonne and an OTT Lin Shaye as a Bible wielding mother.

So whilst Detroit Rock City is no classic high school comedy it has it's moments, but it's mainly the soundtrack and the five minute live Kiss performance that makes me return to it every so often.

This was one of my favs back in the day, mainly down to the 4 lads, I've not seen it for a long time though and I'm almost nervous to go back to it!

I must like it more than my review suggests as i've seen it four or five times now. Maybe i forget the actual film itself and am just swayed by the music when it comes to choosing something to watch.

I bought an ex-rental VHS from Blockbuster and played it a lot of times. This, Empire Records and Dazed and Confused were essentially on loop for the millennium
