It's great fun, the leprechaun is fun and the monsters are great.

Joe Vs The Volcano (1990, John Patrick Shanley)

Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan fall in lurve. But this time it's watchable :laugh: ... just.
Joseph Banks barely makes it through the day. His boss (Hedaya at his most clenched) is no help. Faced with a life changing event, he is offered an unusual solution by Lloyd Bridges (in Music Man mode :lol:), he grasps this particular nettle as his only option. Great first half, peters out mushily imho.

More American Graffiti (1979, BWL Norton)

A somewhat darker peek at some old friends as all but the Solo reappear .... Scott Glenn as a hippy guitarist ... decent period ST etc. Will watch again for sure :nod:

The Roost (2005)

Ti West's directorial debut is a fun take on vampire bats and even zombies. Very low budget but extremely well filmed even in sequences of almost total darkness permeated by great lighting which just allow us to see what's happening action wise yet also hides any budgetary deficiencies with the vampire bat attacks on a group of people sheltering at what they think is a deserted farm.

Tom Noonan, who i last saw a couple of nights ago in West's The House of the Devil, plays a late night horror host who invites us to watch the film in wraparound segments.

I've seen this four or five times over the years and always enjoy it, and at a meager 75 minutes it's not a film that ever comes close to outstaying it's welcome.

Zombie 4: After Death (1989)

Claudio Fragasso's Filipino shot, late entry into the Italian zombie cycle is as bad as they come.

Dodgy special effects, terrible dialogue, atrocious acting and a flimsy storyline ... and yet it's really watchable and despite it's numerous flaws is actually a lot of fun.

Give me this over modern tripe like It Follows and The Babadook any day.

THE BRUTE MAN (1946)

The Creeper is out on the streets for revenge on those who he blames for disfiguring him. He finds friendship in a blind piano teacher and goes out to steal money so that she can have an operation on her eyes..

A prequel to Universal's HOUSE OF HORRORS.
Originally a Universal movie. Universal sold the film off to PRC, the poverty row label. Rondo Hatton's final role before his death.
The lovely Jane Adams is the blind girl and even though the Creeper goes on his murdering spree, you can't help but like the guy. The movie is an enjoyable little B picture.

Watched the new Shaft sequel on Netflix UK. Not bad at all. Changed Roundtree’s Shaft to being Jackon’s dad in this one, but dropped in a line to explain how he went from “Uncle John Shaft” in the 2000 film to his dad in this one. And even included a little footage from the 2000 one as well. More of an action comedy this time, but it was still pretty good.

The Mangler

Probably the best film about a haunted laundry press ever made.

It was this or Citizen Kane. Kane tomorrow methinks! :clap:

The Blood On Satan's Claw 1971.

A small 17th century village is plagued by witchcraft after the unearthing of a deformed creature.

Still a decent low budget British horror from the 70s that still entertaining from start from finish. Patrick Wymark gives out a good performance as The Judge who believes all the stories of witchcraft are dead and buried. Linda Hayden plays angel, the teen and devil follower but also has creepy blank stare (but who wouldn't reject to follow her into the woods). Barry Andrews plays the local farm hand and makes a discovery in the fields, and Michelle Dotrice plays Magaret who is tested to see if witches float and tortured. The transfer from DVD to BD is perfect, the picture quality is alot better and sharper and sound quality is more clearer so we can get the extra chill factor from the background score by Marc Wilkinson. 8 out of 10
