2 Attachment(s) Twice in a lifetime comes two motion pictures that make you say "what the bloody hell am I watching now??" Gather hither and we shall rejoice together my brethren ... Son Of Dracula (1974, Freddie Francis) Yes, the infamous vanity project featuring some musicians and that. Whilst the horribly dark print didn't do me any favours during night time scenes, you can see the rest of it reasonably well ... any film that featured 3 notorious pissheads must have been a "hoot" behind the scenes :rolleyes:. The plot ... is garbled nonsense about the heir renouncing his title of "King of the Netherworld". Ahem. The Astrologer (1976, James Glickenhaus) Targeted by the DPP as likely to "deprave & corrupt". this rather brusquely structured carry on being principally the adventures of one rather lucky young man. since both of these are on the YT, I'll let you bask in them yourselves. |
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMUQ2IMuz8o A Russian squad is sent to find another squad that's went missing, what they find are gruesome creatures made from body parts. It's found footage but at times I think it might of worked better as a standard film. Some fantastic creature designs and gore. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZ40kOmOgEI Done in the style of a documentary it follows the story from witness and footage of tragedy on the opening night of a Halloween haunted house and the events leading up to the night, which hints at something evil and sinister at work. A lot better than I thought it would be even if the acting is a little meh! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZRb60THkwg Sequel taking place a number of years after the first , with a mystery show investigating the hotel and disappearance of people since the last film. Not as good as the first. Now watching. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3BpmE10u4E Followed by. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkalLfx229o |
1 Attachment(s) Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell (1974) Hammer's grimmest film by far. There's absolutely no one to root for except poor Madeline Smith and she's mute and never utters a word. Peter Cushing's Frankenstein has now come full circle. It's not about him creating life which then becomes a monster ala Universal's films, in Hammer's house of horror HE IS THE MONSTER no more so than here. He really doesn't give a shit about anything or anyone so deranged he's become. When he sees his latest creation (David Prowse as a hulking almost gorilla like creature) ripped apart and gutted by his fellow inmates on the floor of the asylum at the center of the film he basically says to co-star Shane Briant "F*ck it, we'll get cracking on another one in the morning" as the screen fades to black |
I really like Frankenstein and the monster from hell, pretty sure it was sparse on TV growing up, It's proper grim and dark being at the arse end of Hammer and because of that stands out.yet still has good performances. |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3142NyU1j8 wrapping up the films this time it follows the hotel be reopened, with the usual sinister things afoot. in someways this sort of reminds me of THE beyond with the similar themes of a hotel with a portal too hell, of course not a match on that fantastic film but better than the last film, some dodgy acting and dreadful effects on the portal but enjoyable enough. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkalLfx229o found this very enjoyable, great 80s feel and felt like it was shot in the 80s , very little violence or gore until last act, here we follow teenage boy and his friends who believe that a neighbor a decorated cop is responsible for a number of missing children . the young cast is very likable and do a good job in there roles. really feels like a Spielberg film with some King added, someways reminded me of Stand by me . we have a rather shocking disturbing ending thats not your typical Spielburg/80s ending. recommenced |
I remember that I enjoyed Summer of 84 but can't remember what happens, is it the one where they think the neighbour is a criminal? I'll go for a re-watch soon I think. |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KvW9Q9875Q Probably Seagal at his best. Here he plays a narcotics agent whom after the death of his partner returns home for some quite time, but with a Jamaican gang running the streets he doesn't get what he wants, but the Jamaicans make huge mistake they attack his family and hurt his young niece. Even there scare tactics and use of black magic and voodoo can't protect them when he comes seeking revenge and starts kick ass . None stop action and the main villain Screwface is quite unsettling. A great piece of 90s action. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJ4mO5wMZ1o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZAMoslxS8U |
1 Attachment(s) Frankenstein Created Woman (1967) Chief of Police: Do you expect us to believe this childish rubbish, sir? Do you take us for fools? Frankenstein: (immediately) Yes. Another classic Hammer film starring the wonderful Peter Cushing as Frankenstein. |
