1 Attachment(s) The Insomniac (1971) A surreal fever dream of a film that seems more like a fantasy or out of body experience than simply someone who can't sleep. A genuinely strange, quite erotic and uniquely British take on sexual freedom in the countryside. This fifty minute film is on the BFI release of Sleepwalker and i think it's great. To go into what actually happens would spoil the surprises for any potential viewers. |
Exhibit A A found footage where every single shot is shown from the camera, About a ordinary family who dad’s up for promotion and found a house he wants to move into, while trying to fit a swimming pool in the house they're in now to bump up the selling price, it’s about the dads slow descent into a downwards spiral, it’s got pretty decent reviews, personally I must have watched a different film from everyone else because I found it dull, slow, boring and a compete waste of my time. |

1 Attachment(s) Twins of Evil 1971 I recently subscribed to that Britbox service via Amazon. They have a modest collection of Hammer films including this one. I had seen it many years ago during one of those Fear on Friday season's but remembered little of it. There's a few things that stood out : Firstly just how beautiful those twins really were in their prime, Peter Cushing is tremendous in this playing against type as a religious zealot, the gore was stronger than a lot of the previous hammer films and I presume Graham Bright wasn't referring to this one when he said that Video Nasties were far more extreme than the safe Hammer films, lastly Dave Warbeck appears as a music teacher long before his Italian career. One of the best the studio ever made in my opinion. |
1 Attachment(s) Attachment 233340 SPIDER-MAN (2002) My favorite Spider-Man movie. I remember when I first saw this on release, I was blown away by Spider-Man's movements. Those movements when he is swinging around look exactly like a frame from the 70's comics. They nailed it on the casting to. With the exception of The Green Goblin (shame) everyone looks like their comic book counterpart. This is great entertainment and blows the new Tom Holland Spider-Man movies out of the water. |
1 Attachment(s) Grave Encounters. 2011. A ghost hunting television crew investigate a closed down mental hospital but the spirits of the doctors and patients may not be at rest. When I first saw this when it was released I thought it be a typical haunted house/building movie that may be lame and boring, to my surprise this was decent, the acting is a bit daft at times but almost believable with the back story of the hospital. This found footage has the creepy atmosphere and may have some good jump scares, like everything else there had to be a sequel which was rubbish IMO :behindsofa: Attachment 233350 |
1 Attachment(s) Executive Decision (1996) A classic 90's action thriller and the perfect movie to start on the extra large bag of beef Monster Munch i bought from Sainsbury's today for £1.25. Movie and Munch heaven. |
