I just noticed Detention is down for a late August release! Shame it's just DVD, but I'm happy it's coming. Been looking forward to it for quite some time.

Wonder how different it is to the previous release. It only runs two minutes longer. 96 mins compared with 94.

...........................

Just noticed The Night Porter is available pre order on Amazon at £5 for the dvd and £8 for the blu.

Pete 21st July 2012 05:55 PM

Here is the blurb from Argent's Youtube channel:

Quote:

Brass's own, complete, Director's Cut, finally gets the release it deserves: for the 1st time remastered in widescreen from restored vault print.

This new release is a far superior experience to prior UK releases: presented for the 1st time in a superb, wide screen, anamorphic version, showcasing Brass' luscious photography and carefully choreographed set-pieces: showing off the spectacular, titanicaly proportioned, Serena Grandi, whose completely uninhibited, gleeful naturalness, permitted Brass to push explicit eroticism to the doors of hardcore.

Interesting. I used to have it on vhs.

I'll most likely get that. Amazon, Hmv, Play don't have it listed yet though.

I saw this on it's cinema release, people were walking out left, right and centre. I would have too, but I'd just nailed my cock to my seat in a mad moment of copy cat behaviour.;)

There's a Cube blu ray in Australia. Think it's a double feature with Cypher?

No Tetsuo III? That's not even been released here at all yet...

Demdike@Cult Labs 1st August 2012 05:16 PM

You've linked Santa Sangre twice.

I will be picking that up certainly. £7.99's a very good price.

Hawkmonger 9th August 2012 08:24 AM

Oooh, a Howling Boxset. Yes please. I only own Howling Reborn on BD but the first movie is a horror classic. The second one is worth it just for a team up between Reb Brown and Christopher Lee! This is a sure purchase for me.

Don't get too excited - it's being released by Cornerstone.

Predictably shitty cover for what will no doubt be a very shitty release:

Thats brilliant.

Arrow and Shameless could learn something from that.

Stephen will be all over that artwork.

I think that artwork is fantastic. So brilliantly misleading! I thought I'd knock my own one up..

Demdike@Cult Labs 13th August 2012 10:24 PM

What a series you could have -

Arthur Kennedy in Let Sleeping Corpses Lie

Ray Milland in The Pyjama Girl Case

Humphrey Bogart in The French Sex Murders

the blob 13th August 2012 10:32 PM

Yep! Just tag 'Screen Legends' on it or something and we're away!

It does seem like Nucleus are trying to cash in on the Shameless brand, perhaps Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things didn't sell so well. ;)

Mojo 14th August 2012 12:31 PM

Yes - it does seem 'heavily influenced' by the Shameless brand, doesn't it? I'll probably still buy it though, even though it is a load of shite.

I already have it in a decent uncut print from BCI in their South of the Border boxset.

It was ok but nothing to warrant buying again.

I'm sure the tag line at the top will be discussed when Daemonia sees it, another company milking the V N scandal, couldn't even bring myself to write it properly

It's from the company who did the Video Nasties set so what do you expect? ;)

It claims it's uncut for the first time but the previous Redemption edition was uncut.

I'll probably pick this up at some point because I've never seen it and am a bit of a fan of the Cardona family.

Rik 14th August 2012 03:59 PM

Never noticed it was from Nucleus, that'll explain it then

Pete 15th August 2012 06:42 PM

In addition to Miranda Argent Films are going to release another Tinto Brass movie, THE VOYEUR.

Not up for pre-order yet but they have uploaded the trailer to their YT channel.

Remastered in its original sumptuous widescreen, THE VOYEUR finally gets the release it deserves, in its longest, most complete form ever !

A load of Dick Randal productions went through the BBFC earlier:

FRENCH SEX MURDERS

THE URGE TO KILL

LIVING DOLL (I was going to get the Mondo Macabro edition of this but I think I'll wait now)

NINJA OVER THE GREAT WALL

DRAGON BRUCE LEE PART II

EMANUELLE 3

CROCODILE (The Asian movie from 1980)

DAUGHTER OF EMANUELLE

EROTIC FANTASIES

Baseball Fury 22nd August 2012 11:59 AM

That Nucleus cover is great. Reminds me of the 101 Films ISOYG Arrow "homage".

The plot thickens..

Firefly Entertainment - Horror

Some others as well in the collections, including DON'T OPEN TILL CHRISTMAS, GIRL IN ROOM 2A and strangely, PIECES and SLAUGHTER HIGH. Did Arrow lose the rights already or is there something suspicious going on?

There's a few that Mondo Macabre released in all those i've been meaning to get as well. Hope the prints are decent for an RRP of £20.

Pete 22nd August 2012 01:23 PM

The Dick Randall library was previously owned by Film 2000. I wonder if they're aware Arrow have PIECES and SLAUGHTER HIGH?
