*I was too old to find the Destroyer scary but it was a very well designed monster from the final series of classic Who.

Whilst it wasn't a monster story i found The Masque of Mandragora very unsettling at the time. A story together with Image of the Fendahl and The Stones of Blood which probably gave me my love of all things Gothic, and Occulty.

Three of my favourite stories (plus The Daemons is also worth mentioning).

So, it looks like Doctor Who is responsible for promoting interest in the occult amongst at least two people... imagine if the Daily Mail got hold of that! :rolleyes: ;)

I never saw The Daemons at the time so didn't include it.

I agree with you though, whilst not remotely bloody the majority of seventies Doctor Who, the Baker years in particular, was scary for those lucky enough to be in the 6 - 13 age range. Some of the scenarios stayed with me for a long long time and began my interest in horror.
