:lol::pound:
Ridley Scott's classic ALIEN has a lot to answer for hasn't it?
(Actually,we have a lot to thank it for.)

I've just watched ALIEN 2 ON EARTH and it was one of those films you remember being FAR more better when you were a youngster!
It made XTRO look like it had the budget of a Jerry Bruckheimer budget!
Enjoyable Italian trash of the highest order-worth the 'slow build up'.
It's amazing what you can do with rubber hoses!

There's MANY ALIEN wannabees out there and I love them all-surely there are other fans out there, and if so,if I'm not alone in this universe, then make contact here and discuss those gloopy low-budget Extra Terrestrial delights!

Demdike@Cult Labs 14th July 2011 10:35 PM

I only discovered the Critters films a year or two back, when the £4.99 box set was released. Really enjoyed all of them.

Its always good to discover films for the first time.

kingofwitches666 14th July 2011 11:58 PM

I used to own a pre-cert VHS of Night Beast. I believe the tag line on the case was something like "His hands tear through flesh and bone".

Was most disappointed whilst watching the film that he actually despatched most people with a laser gun!

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 15th July 2011 07:20 AM

....Which was on the VIPCO label if I remember right!

Yeah,Vipco tagline and Troma film = Definitely not what it says on the tin!

Nightbeast was okay, but THE BEING is a far nastier alien.

Gojirosan 15th July 2011 09:26 AM

I used to love the absurd Inseminoid. FIrstly, what an amazing title! Then there's the obvious soundstage sets the embarrassed actors gritting their teeth and thinking of the pay cheque, the C&A costumes and the "erratic" lighting.

But also, there is a genuine sense of tension at times and a transparent monster's cock!

Glorious.

I had a very worn VHS on the Brent Walker label that I managed to watch two or three times before it died completely!

And now I want to see it again!

platostotal 15th July 2011 10:24 AM

Don't forget 'Titan Find' tho you'll wish they hadn't:lol:.Lotta fun in a gory Alien clone kinda way.

I love The Deadly Spawn, Synapse produced a great dvd of it a couple of years ago. Not really sure it is an Alien rip off though. Not that it matters , its nice to give this piece of low budget exploitation a mention in any thread.

A brilliant bit of gory fun.:)

Ha ha, that looks ace.

I've never seen it myself & seeing as I'm not really buying DVD's no more (gone on a total Blu-Ray trip) I'd probably not purchase it. But if Synapse released a decent HD version....... :eyebrows:

It will never get a Bd release, the film makers had no ££££ whatsoever, the source material just isn't suitable to HD.

Shame :(

Gojirosan 15th July 2011 04:27 PM

It's well worth betting a DVD of it anyway! It's a great film. Are you going to miss out on a great film just because there's no Blu-Ray? It's not like you can't play DVDs on a BD player!

The dvd has extras galore though - 2 commentaries, a comic style prequel with new musical score, trailers, alternete opening with new sfx, outtakes, biographies and a massive stills gallery covering make up, behind the scenes and its NYC premiere.

Pete 15th July 2011 04:30 PM

I've only seen the wretched Vipco DVD of THE DEADLY SPAWN.

Surprised you could see any of it then, it is a bad print.

You need to get the Synapse version mate,it's incredible the difference from the Shitco print.

THE DEADLY SPAWN is the perfect example of how to take a zero budget and make it a cult classic.

I own the X RATED Hardbox, which I'm hoping uses the same source as the Synapse disc.

Demdike@Cult Labs 15th July 2011 07:43 PM

The Deadly Spawn has brilliant cover art, love the one eyed skull.

Very true Goj. I've got me eye on a Synapse version at the moment. :tongue1:

That one eyed skull appeared originally on the VHS Vipco cover art for Lenzi's EATEN ALIVE!

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 15th July 2011 11:17 PM

Anyway, what do you reckon is the best Corman 'Alien cash in' ?

Vampix 16th July 2011 03:43 AM

My favourite Corman alien flick is Forbidden World, closely followed by Galaxy of Terror.I've also got the Synapse version of The Deadly Spawn and I can safely say it's a quality disc stuffed with extras, don't waste your time hanging about for a BD release.Anyone else remember The Dark? it was about an alien who kills people by shooting laser beams out of it's eyes, it starred William Devane and Richard Jaeckel. Is it available on DVD? I'd love to see The Warning (aka Without Warning) get a DVD release, it's been ages since I saw it last.It had a great cast including Jack Palance and Martin Landau, and a cool looking alien, played by none other than the original "Predator" himself, Kevin Peter Hall.

I prefer Galaxy Vamp.....THE WARNING has a German hardbox release courtesey of X RATED and the quality is pretty good as well.
Another alien B movie I love!

Hmm, wonder if anyone connected with the BBC has seen Alien Shock?

Maybe we'll never know - Silence will fall!

Pete 16th July 2011 04:03 PM

WITHOUT WARNING is great fun although, like THE DEADLY SPAWN, I've only seen it via the old Vipco release which was sooooooooooooooooo dark.

plasterface 16th July 2011 05:51 PM

spawn

love deadly spawn, watching the titan find as i write this. vipco must have tarnished a lot movie memories with their dodgy releases

Tombsy666 17th July 2011 12:32 PM

THE WARNING is getting a dvd release by A.W.E, not sure if it's out now or very close to being released, the covers not one of a.w.e's best ones tho:rockon:

Unfortunately, it's been delayed due to them being supplied poor elements. :(

From their site (via Google translate):

Quote:

Without Warning postponed indefinitely

We have unfortunately had to postpone our publishing Greydon Clark's sci-fi thriller Without Warning. We have estimated that the material that we have been supplied by the licensee, not of a quality suitable for publication. The film is removed from our release plan so far.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 21st July 2011 07:59 PM

Pity that.The film deserves a wider audience.

The German release ain't bad though.

I have never seen it and I am intrigued.
