They obviously don't have the rights to all those titles now as many have been released by other companies on dvd since.

Plus of course others such as Killer's Moon and The Bloodsucker Leads the Dance amongst many others have been released on dvd which aren't on this list.

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 18th March 2012 07:47 PM

Great list. I'd love to see all those thoroughly remastered and released on BD.

Joking, although people on here do like all their artworks identical according to some threads.

I couldn't give a monkeys about spine building, i don't even keep my Shameless films together, they are all over the place.

Yeah, my DVDs are arranged alphabetically, so it's the same for me.

Although, I have to admit that after seeing Nos' collection all together in the Shameless Collection thread, they do make for an impressive sight.

Gojirosan 18th March 2012 09:39 PM

Yeah, my films tend to be lumped together by director so Shameless and Arrow releases are all split up.

I did arrange all the Shameless disks together once to see how it looked and did not like the big ugly lump of yellow on my shelf at all!

Make Them Die Slowly 18th March 2012 09:40 PM

I arrange mine by smell.

There are a couple of later releases too Demdike, including Frightmare, Witchfinder General , The Black Cat, Bloodstained Shadow, The Cat's Victims and others I can't remember :loco:

I would love Redemption to release Frightmare on Blu-ray.

That was just an offbeat remark about my very yellow Shameless collection and Make Them Die Slowly's idea to organise DVDs by smell!

Yes, but what does it smell like? That could be a deciding factor for nos and MTDS.

Nos: I did get that was just a humorous remark, I just took it a step further. I can't help myself. Maybe Pete needs to put me back in the gimp box.

it's sometimes really difficult to work out whether a comment or question is facetious, serious or something else when in print – it seems I guessed wrong!

Also, I've never been a fan of yellow snow, not that I've ever tried it to find out. The look is enough for me.

It's where the husskies go, Nos.

Sorry, just a random Frank Zappa thing going on there. ;)

Good news for lovers of Jean Rollin's films.

Rape Of The Vampire, Requiem For A Vampire, and Demoniacs will be released on Blu-ray by Kino Lorber / Redemption (all May 22, 2012).

The US rights are still with Synapse, I think.

I read somewhere on blu-ray.com that Redemption are waiting until they expire (2013 I think) to release it.

I need HD Grapes in my life though, dammit!

As for Grapes of Death - Synapse still own the rights, and I'd love them to release it on Blu-ray, as their few previous Blu-rays are top-notch.

Greetings!

Someone asked them on FB if they'll be doing any UK BD's and they replied that they were looking into it and would probably start with some of the more well known titles.

Why would they want to release UK Blu-rays when all of their previous Rollin US Blu-rays were region free?

Greetings!

bgart13 9th April 2012 08:42 PM

GRAPES OF DEATH will be released in early 2013, per Redemption on FB. I asked if it was having to wait for their contract to expire with Synapse, but they only replied "no comment." ;)

Synapse won't release it because they aren't able to do the transfer themselves. Don told me this via a PM on FB.

Even in this technological age, a lot of people either don't/won't import discs and/or don't shop online.

It's even been mentioned that the bulk of Arrow and Shameless' sales come from over the counter purchases.

Understandable in some ways, really: 1 unit sold at HMV = price of 10 units online ;))

You've got a point there.
Must have been approximately half a year ago when I last bought a movie in a local shop. :loco:

That's great news.

I had an e-mail from Planet Axel to let me know the Marquis de Sade's Justine has been dispatched. I should really do a Jean Rollin mini marathon at some point.

I don't know, to make money? Be silly of them have the UK rights and not do anything with them. Also, it's more convenient than waiting a week or two for them to arrive in the post. They will also be targeting the average customer and growing a bigger fan base. Which means more income and the chance of more title's appearing on BD.

I can't remember when I last bought a DVD 'over-the-counter' – it's been that long I don't think I've been in a store since BDs went 'mainstream'!

However, that will change as I have a £20 HMV voucher from PurePoints to spend.

Yeah, we know, the stuff you buy is under-the-counter stuff. Y'know, the ones that get passed to you in plain brown paper bags.

If only that were the case!

I've been thinking about it and I have only bought one BD from a shop and that was only because Morrisons were selling The King's Speech for about £9 and, if I had ordered it online, it wouldn't have arrived in time for my dad's birthday.
