Top Vengeful Female?

Vengeful females have long played a role in cinema, especially the darker side of film. There's plenty of great examples and many of which have been icons!

With the upcoming release of [REC] Genesis - featuring a Bride taking out her revenge on hordes of flesh-eating infected - here's a thread to discuss your favourite vengeful females.

Take a look at this countdown of my top 5 for some ideas...

Revenge of the Vengeful Females!

Also, awesome I Spit On Your Grave artwork...

Vengeful females?

Can I add myself to that list?

Believe me, you do NOT want to get on my bad side!

Gojirosan 23rd July 2012 03:20 PM

ARGH!

I can't bear seeing Kill Bill referred to as a "masterpiece"!

Slippery Jack 23rd July 2012 03:20 PM

No question...

Nope, I think it's absolute rubbish. But even if you are a fan, surely nobody sees it as a "masterpiece"? Chinatown is a masterpiece, Citizen Kane is a masterpiece, Once Upon A Time In The West is a masterpiece, Les Yeux Sans Visage is a masterpiece, you could argue Suspiria or The Wicker Man or Dirty Harry are masterpieces...but Kill Bill? KILL BILL? Come on! Really?

Cheers. Took an age to do, but I think it's my favourite of the stuff I've done . . .

(Chinatown is not a masterpiece! Just like Don't Look Now isn't! :p )

You're right though, Kill Bill isn't exactly a masterpiece, but it's still pretty damn freakin' good. 'Masterpiece' does get thrown around quite a bit, mainly by me

I have a soft spot for *blankety blank* in Argento's "Trauma".

DLN is probably in my top 5 of all time. Chinatown is far from my favourite Polanski though . . .

Slippery Jack 23rd July 2012 03:49 PM

I thought Inglourious Basterds was miles better than Kill Bill... that had a vengeful female too. My vote goes to the French cinema chick  . . .

Meiko Kaji in Lady Snowblood (the first one in the series is the best).

Sissy Spacek in Carrie. The movies climax gave me goose bumps first time i saw it.

Christina Lindberg in Thriller

Well...I suppose it was better than Kill Bill...still pretty much rubbish though!

I lent my DVD of it to someone knowing full well I'd never get it back. Once was more than enough for Inglourious Basterds!

Nah! I find it gets better on repeat viewings. Hugely enjoyable stuff, where Kill Bill gets bogged down by too many plot diversions . . .

Mattie Ross in True Grit, certainly a vengeful female.

Its rumoured MS.45 is also about a vengeful female. ;)

CITIZEN KANE is overrated and boring, not a fan of CHINATOWN, THE WICKER MAN and SUSPIRIA are masterpieces, esp the latter
KILL BILL esp vol.1 is a brilliant film full of scenes Tarantino pays homage to from other films
After all is there one film yet that is completely original from him?
Nevertheless KB is excellent and ****ing entertaining
