Your favorite DVD cover?

There are alot of great dvd covers out there, look at the art from Arrow for an example, but I was wondering wich DVD cover is your favorite?

My personal favorite is from the movie Superstition (1982). I just love the art on this on, but didn't really like the movie though.

What's not to like about Superstition? I think it's an excellent little horror flick. What edition of the movie is that in your picture? It's not the UK Momentum DVD or the US Anchor Bay disc.As for my favourite DVD covers, some of the recent DVDs/BDs with front cover artwork by Graham Humphreys have been fantastic, e.g. Combat Shock, Slaughter High, Witchfinder General, Blood On Satan's Claw, Basket Case trilogy (not yet released), etc.

Daemonia 7th August 2012 01:01 AM

Favourite DVD cover? Well, to be honest, I don't really pay much attention to the covers, I'm all about the film that's on the disc.

I'm not knocking those that are big on artwork, I just ain't one of them. I'd be hard pushed to even tell you what's on the covers of half my films, as all I ever see is the spine most the time.

But I do quite like the Return of the Living Dead steelbook. I think that looks cool.

I sometimes buy movies just because of their cover. I dont know why but it's just some sort of artwork. When it's really nice and you can see there's gone alot of work into the cover it makes me want to buy it easier than when it's a really ****ed up cover. A cover which has no appeal whats so ever I wouldnt buy because its likely there hasn't gone alot of effort into the dvd making and the cover making.

I'm not sure what my favourite artwork is something I have to think about..
But I do think artwork can play a important part I mean after all when you was a younger in the video shop sometimes it was the artwork that grabbed your attention to read the film to see if you fancied watching it if you couldn't decide what film to get.

I love the Faust cover, it's one of my favourites too.

demonknight 7th August 2012 04:29 PM

Now that I think of it,the intruder bluray from synapse has a nice cover also. Severed head in the bag goes with the movie I suppose.

Boo Radley 7th August 2012 04:45 PM

For me the AWE release of Intruder kicks ass, I also have a soft spot for the uk release of return of the living dead 3.

Thank you! The very one! And if you've never seen it......tsk tsk! Your mission this week should be to grab this bad boy and settle back with a couple of beers or whatever else you're allowed to do in the Netherlands!

demonknight 7th August 2012 07:03 PM

Intruder is supposedly getting a Blu-ray and DVD release in the UK from 88 Films.

demonknight 10th August 2012 05:34 PM

Favourite dvd cover

The dead next door dvd has a nice meaty hannibal lecter looking cover.

arse_biscuits 10th August 2012 06:17 PM

I really like The Dude Designs covers, particularly the ones he did for Hobo with a Shotgun, Father's Day and Dear God No!

Also the artwork Blue Underground used for Shock Waves

I have so many dvd (and BD) covers that I love, this thread could get very boring for you all. Or at the very least, give you a good laugh when you see what I like. :)

IMO, that Mark Of The Devil cover is awful - everything I dislike in a cover really, and one of my current most cringe-inducing bĂȘtes noires of DVD/BD design. Considering that it costs so much money, it's a shame they couldn't have come up with a more imaginative and classy design (even though it is not a classy film! ).

The Lost Weekend picture is superb though. Just my kind of thing.

I love it. That is all. :) and I do like the Lost Weekend art. Even though to me, i thought it was a horror film when I first saw the MoC art.

First you like DNR, then you don't like this cover. What's wrong with you? Do you want to get banned of something? ;)

Not one of my favourite covers but it always makes me giggle:

Probably not to everyone's taste, but I really like the US blu-ray artwork for Out Of Sight. I remember seeing it at my local cinema when the film came out.
