That's pretty steep,a few months ago Kultvideo still had it for less than 6 Euro but it's out of stock now.

Re:The Mario Bava Thread

Hi there:biggrin:

I think Mario Bava is a really great director.

My favourite Bava films are "Bay of Blood"and "Bllood and Black Lace".

Hi argentofan35,
I'm glad you mention Bay Of Blood as it's underestimated imho.

vincenzo 15th October 2009 10:47 PM

Bay Of Blood (Twitch Of The Death Nerve) could well do with a decent and intact UK release.

It was once a video nasty in days of yore (as Blood Bath) but would have no BBFC problems today. The current DVD is the cut video print (minus 43 secs).

Does no-one else think "Hatchet For The Honeymoon" is tremendously under-rated? I only saw it (finally) a year or so ago and couldn't believe how little good press it gets.

I suppose it depends what one "expects" from Bava, but I thought it a superb and fascinating film.

I've been rediscovering Bava this last year, buying DVD replacements of his flicks and such. The older I get, the more I appreciate his talents.

Ah yes, the gloriously over-saturated Hokushin release! Took me a long time to track down a copy opf that...no idea what ever happened to it! I used to love the cover!
