Night driving music.

Nice.

It would be good if i could afford to drive at night. Petrol prices are ridiculous over here at the moment. £1.32 a liter.

As a teen I had this album on a grey market Polish cassette tape, I listened to it every day, fantastic album. I've now got it on a beautiful purple(ish) record.

In the Woods

My mate bought their Omnio album and i have Three Times Seven on a Pilgrimage.

A good band who should be better known but not helped by them dropping off the face of the earth just when people were getting into them.

Justin101 18th August 2021 01:00 PM

Their cover version of White Rabbit is fantastic! I love Omnio as well :)

I went back and watched the remaining extras on Lords of Chaos last night. I then started watching the film again and only turned it off about forty minutes in when i realised it was half two in the morning.

Some good interviews including Attila's son who plays his dad in the film.

I think this might become a firm favourite of mine.

It's a shame there is no concert footage of the band as an extra feature on the Blu-Ray

Justin101 18th August 2021 02:26 PM

It is a shame, but Akerlund has actually recreated one of their most famous shows in the film and it looks amazing. Actual footage would be very scuzzy vhs camcorder quality, we're talking 1990 concerts in clubs.

I think there are a couple of Mayhem concert DVDs as extra discs on some Peaceville Records releases.

As i watched on Saturday night i was thinking the band will sound way better here than they actually did at the time.

The doc on the SFX was very enlightening.

Justin101 18th August 2021 04:40 PM

The sound quality on those 'Dead' concerts are awful, they sound like they were recorded on a tape deck :D I might watch Lords of Chaos this evening, I never got around to it at the weekend and I don't have any plans for anything specific later :)

Still Frost behind the kit then, he's a maniac drummer  I think he's generally a maniac all around to be honest...

His drumming in 1349 is from another planet

Since I re-watched Lords of Chaos last night and I'm feeling particularly cvlt I've got my Peter Beste photography book out. If anyone of you interested lot are in the mood to buy a Black Metal coffee table book, this behemoth (no pun) is worth owning, see if you can get a decent price though!!

It reproduces all of the Kerrang articles from the early 90s about the inner circle and has a bunch of articles and photos from the Slayer fanzine. And it has around 150 full colour (mostly) pics on the massive pages.

1 - 3 the cover
4 - Einar Selvik (of Gorgoroth) in an iconic photo on the streets of Bergen
5 - Abbath in the woods
6 - The door of Euronymous' flat
7 - The Bromance

I was driving my mum's car today as it hasn't been anywhere since last week. No comps in this car so i selected Satyricon's self titled album. This is my fave track.

I agree, I liked Alissa at first, but there is something about her that is very off-putting and I can't put my finger on it. Angela was a fantastic front-person though, scary German

If you'd like some pure black n' roll try Chrome Division.

Chrome Division - Endless Night

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HBnS9b3b6E

Infernal Rock Eternal (2014)

Chrome Division - Ghost Riders in the Sky

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fjqxnz-EUCs

Absolutely nothing to do with Dimmu Borgir whatsoever.

Demdike@Cult Labs 20th August 2021 03:48 PM

Ensiferum - Andromeda

Thalassic (2020)

Videos with bands playing on rocky shorelines whilst a hot naked chick runs with wolves through forests are good with me.

I like it, but it's too much 'Roll' and not enough 'Black' for my current mood :)

Try this then

I - The Storm i Ride

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6rvq...Zd-aNs&index=1

Between Two Worlds (2006)

The fact this sounds like an even groovier Immortal is pure coincidence. No members of that band (or Enslaved) have anything to do with this record. Neither does producer Peter Tagtgren

Demdike@Cult Labs 23rd August 2021 10:49 PM

Some soothing music to go to sleep to.

Empyrium - Where At Night The Wood Grouse Plays

Where At Night The Wood Grouse Plays (1999)

Justin101 24th August 2021 06:41 AM

I'll be listening to Empyrium all day now while I work I think, definitely in the mood for that kind of thing.

Justin101 24th August 2021 09:25 AM

I didn't know they put out an album this year, I'm losing my grip on the scene lol...
