Another impossible thread, nice one Bizarre_eye. :thumb:

I still haven't sorted my favourite albums list for the other thread. :(

VicDakin 8th July 2012 11:57 AM

Impossible

Yeah like Dems says bloody hard, its an endless and ever expanding,(like my waistline) list, heres some of my favs, everytime I burn a comp disc I always end up using the saME TRACKS  just few i can remember of the top of me ead :)

The Ramones-I Wanna Be Sedated

Johnny Cash-The Man Comes Around
Magazine-Light Pours Out Of Me.
Nick cave And The Bad Seeds-Mercy Seat

I could probably contribute if the thread was called "Your favourite tracks listened to today", otherwise no sadly. With around 3000 albums its nigh on impossible. :(

You could always impose a 'one track per artist' rule on yourself, Dem. ;)

Hey, I may make difficult threads sometimes, but no-one's holding anyone at gunpoint to post in them! (yet! ;))

Also, I'd rather burn to death in a wicker man (or wicker CD?) than have to watch that abomination of a remake again!

That would be a great idea if i'd only heard one track from The Downward Spiral.*

And thats just one artist.

Hmmm... I see your point (especially if you truly love and favour a lot of tracks by the same artist, which most people probably will!).

Incidentally, if I had to choose a track from The Downward Spiral, it would be The Becoming.

Demdike@Cult Labs 8th July 2012 06:36 PM

Speaking of "one track per artist".

I've always had a theory that i probably like one track from every artist no matter what their genre of music. (Providing they have had a proper recording career of course).

As an example i dislike Beyonce (and all r'nb) with a vengeance, yet Crazy in Love is an excellent track.

Its a problem with me.

What makes a great track?

Something you loved during your teens and still give an occasional listen to today. Something you enjoyed a few years ago, or something you have just discovered, think is great but never play again after six months.

All/some/none of that.

No set rules: It's up to you to create your criteria; plus it doesn't have to be a definitive list.

Demdike@Cult Labs 8th July 2012 09:56 PM

If i was doing a C-90 for someone who wanted an idea of my collection it would possibly read something like this.

Side A

Kiss - Detroit Rock City
The Cult - Edie (Ciao baby)
The Sisters of Mercy - More
Madonna - Ray of Light
Slayer - Raining Blood
WASP - Forever Free
Motley Crue - Wild Side
Nick Cave / Kylie Minogue - Where the Wild Roses Grow
Iron Maiden - Dream of Mirrors
Goldfrapp - Strict Machine

Side B

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird
Primal Scream - Swastika Eyes
Bon Jovi - Hey God
Soundgarden - Jesus Christ Pose
REM - Everybody Hurts
Satyricon - Fuel for Hatred
Nightwish - Nemo
Ministry - Jesus Built My Hotrod
The Clash - London Calling
Motorhead - No Voices in the Sky

So many favourites are missing from that, Guns N' Roses, NIN, White Zombie, Miles Davis, Def Leppard, Neurosis, Kyuss, the list goes on. However it does a reasonable job of representing my collection. A little pop, rock, industrial, Black metal, punk, gothic, hair metal, grunge and Motorhead.
