Nice little film this, just got it and watched it. The Django being a terrible western bit was very funny, and knowingly so.

My Shameless collection is steadily growing and I'm now up to 7. I watched this one tonight and while it was no classic it was pretty decent all the same. When I watch a Giallo I normally expect lots of gore and sleaze but this was quite lightweight in both those areas and concentrated on quite a confusing plot instead. It dragged a bit at times but as with most films in this sub-genre I found plenty to like and some scenes were very memorable.

One of the lesser Giallos in my opinion but not bad. I've seen better and I've seen worse. Worth adding to the collection though.

Next up is FLAVIA THE HERETIC.

Just took this title out of my collection and the top corner of the box broke off!!!

Do the yellow cases have best before dates? ;)

Almar@Cult Labs 19th January 2009 09:53 AM

How annoying! Give me a nudge this week and I'll send you a spare empty yellow box - can't have shabby Shameless collections out there...

bedorca 22nd January 2009 08:48 PM

You are a star Mr Almar! :D

Pete 30th September 2009 12:21 PM

Ha! One of the customer reviews for this title on Amazon say's Shameless should be ashamed about how they tried to sell this film as a gore fest:der:.

Almar@Cult Labs 30th September 2009 04:59 PM

But... we're Shameless!

Well that's an old video sleeve that was just too good not to use :eyebrows:

vincenzo 30th September 2009 05:03 PM

Judging by some of the reviews on Amazon, quite a few of their customers have problems walking and chewing gum at the same time.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 30th September 2009 06:48 PM

Yeah.Powertool must automatically equal gorefest eh?:der:

Pete 1st October 2009 10:49 AM

Someone left a comment for the review calling the reviewer a 'clueless gimp!':laugh:

Stephen@Cult Labs 1st October 2009 10:54 AM

I saw that reply as well.Funny

I keep the R1 MDK for the interviews and the Shameless version for the trailer as it's apparently missing from the SS DVD.

Anyone know ? Looks like a spag.west

It was Django.

My thoughts on this one here: http://midnightspecialfttf.blogspot....ss-dvd-11.html

Ultimately found this one a bit boring unfortunately. Always nice to find a giallo I've never seen before tho.

oaxaca 27th March 2010 10:09 AM

I like the reverse cover art for most of Shameless' DVDs better than the front...It tends to look more 70s and retro (e.g. my dear killer or night train murders), whereas the main cover art, whilst very cool looking, is a bit more exploitative and is obviously there to catch the eye of someone looking through the horror section at their local DVD store!

bdc 28th March 2010 10:36 AM

Really liked this one,had some trouble figuring out the clue that gave the killer away in the end though.
But I finally figured it out! ;)

Saw this one recently; really loved this one. Alongside The Designated Victim, it's my fav Shameless release so far. I was not sure about the Poirot-esque ingredient, but I did like that it had me guessing and I thought George Hilton pulled off the lead detective rather well - one could really sense the pressure that the police were under and the fact that they were not getting anywhere. It was a procedural that took its time, which is how it should be, and I liked the attention to the clues and details.

I definitely opted for the reverse cover - the front's fine, but they don't make the old ones like they used to. The reverse cover perfectly suits the mood and time of the film. If only they made thrillers like this today:(

SHAM011 - My Dear Killer

Yes, MY DEAR KILLER is a very good giallo and the best version of this film by Shameless as its got the scene in the beginning in the right place unlike the
R1 dvd
The same applies to STRIP NUDE FOR YOUR KILLER as the beginning is in colour not a blue tint as in the R1 dvd
So well done Shameless!

skankenstoned 11th March 2011 06:53 PM

Had to watch this again this morning as part of a double bill (I watched Oasis Of Fear for the first time) and it really is such a great film. Still can't get over how quick Morro is to try and wrap the case up, cracks me up every time!

Demoncrat 18th January 2021 03:47 PM

Rewatched this as the other film I put on ... wasn't gripping enough.

George Hilton tries to sort out a labyrinthine muddle the best he can. The real deal this one. Everyone looks shifty AF. Decent kills as well. I always leave gaps between watching these, so I don't instantly spot the maniac from memory.
Ahem. :nod::hail:
