SHAM039: The Nurse - Official Announcement

SHAM039: The Nurse

Shameless Screen Entertainment are back! Back with a fun, sleazy release that's perfect for everyone's favorite Yellow company!

This release will mark the first DVD release of The Nurse in the UK!

Ursula Andress (Dr No; Mountain Of The Cannibal God; She) has been voted the top Bond girl of all time, making her mark on cinema in the famous Dr No scene with that bikini. Well, if you've ever wondered what she'd look like without the bikini, then reach for Shameless Screen Entertainment's release of The Nurse (L'infermiera! Literally: Andress is undressed for most part of this pun-filled romp-com.

Jack Palance (Batman; Tango And Cash) plays a mean offbeat American tycoon looking to buy a vineyard in the beautiful Tuscan hills. The old Italian owner, a randy lecher who is convalescing from his last bonk-induced heart-attack, doesn't want to sell, even if his madcap family does. The family hires the gorgeous Nurse, Ursula Andress to ... ahem... undress and give the old man another - and they hope fatal - cardiac arrest!

All barmy, fizzy fun and the clincher - this is the only non-Bond franchise with a second Bond girl! Thunderball's stunning leather-clad biker, Luciana Paluzzi (The Green Slime) stars here without leathers... or anything!

Year: 1975

Not heard of this before but nice to see them branching out into Italian sex comedies. A thumbs up for me as far as the direction is concerned (no idea what the film's like but will be checking it out)

Also nice to see it's not too long before it comes out

EDIT: quick look on Amazon and looks like the R1 R̶a̶r̶o̶ No Shame disc is OOP with silly money being asked for. So again, thumbs up!

Paul@TheOverlook 9th August 2013 10:14 AM

Fun film this one - its also known as 'The Sensuous Nurse' - well worth picking up.

Demdike@Cult Labs 9th August 2013 10:23 AM

I have the No Shame disc and really rate the film.

Andress is excellent in it. Once you've seen this the white bikini scene in Dr. No will become a dim and distant memory.

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 9th August 2013 10:28 AM

Sounds great and very shameless! I haven't seen it, so look forward to picking up the DVD and see what, as Kyle said, Ms Andress was hiding under that bikini.

unrealbe 9th August 2013 10:28 AM

So only dvds?

This sounds great too. 2 Shameless titles I look forward to adding to my collection.

tele1962 9th August 2013 11:57 AM

Not interested, even less so with no Blu Ray release of either. Come on Shameless get with the times.

Rik 9th August 2013 01:20 PM

I'm not interested in either film, but I'm happy they're releasing something, even if its not my cuppa tea. With them only being a small outfit, they won't have the funds to release everything on Blu Ray, but hopefully these two titles will sell enough to warrant more releases and maybe put out some more HD titles, good luck to them I say :)

Slippery Jack 9th August 2013 02:26 PM

Despite my lack of interest in either, I'm still very keen to see what they come up with for the artwork  . . .

Get working on a couple of suitably trashy pieces, yer know, just in case ;)

Slippery Jack 9th August 2013 02:32 PM

Psh, no more freebies from me :tsk: . . .

Ursula in a nurse's outfit-can't be bad Paul!

herman 9th August 2013 08:23 PM

Good film! About time someone showed a little love for Italian sex comedy!

Frankenhooker 9th August 2013 09:17 PM

Neither this or SHAM040 sound like my sort of thing, but I'm delighted they have new releases lined up. I was starting to get worried that perhaps they were going to go tits up, which would be a crying shame as Shameless are a fantastic label.

I will probably end up buying both if they're in HMV or something.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head Rik.

monkeypedro 9th August 2013 10:15 PM

Will definitely be buying this as missed out on the Noshame release before it went oop and the prices became silly.
It would be good if more of the Italian comedies were released by Shameless in the UK especially the ones starring Edwige Fenech.

And so say all of us!

Stephen@Cult Labs 9th August 2013 10:46 PM

Ok, if Shameless are going to release any more of these types of films, I'd take Very Close Encounters Of The Fourth Kind (aka "Incontri Molto Ravvicinati Del Quarto Tipo).

Sorry to say I'm really not too fussed, I wasn't interested in the NoShame release and I'm not very interested in the Shameless one. Maybe Sham41 will turn things around?

sghawken 17th August 2013 06:48 PM

Excellent news two releases I have never seen. Nice to see Shameless back in the swing of things!

grim 18th August 2013 05:14 AM

Ahh shameless, how I hate to love thee sometimes. After a long wait we get Confessions of a Fake 70s Porno and Adventures of a Sexy Nurse. And to think we had Amsterdamned and House with Laughing Windows last Christmas. Oh well maybe next year we'll get Rocky and Rambo instead of The Italian Stallion.

lfulci 24th August 2013 09:39 AM

oh At last. This title I DO like very much. Can hardly wait to get it. I nearly missed it due to my disappointment of Viva.

g053584398 25th August 2013 07:26 PM

I've been after the NoShame release of this one for what seems like years, but the prices are always ridiculous. So whilst I will be very happy to acquire the UK release, I honestly can't believe that it has been chosen for release on the Shameless label.

It seems to me that the label has lost its way somewhat. When you consider how many gialli, poliziotteschi and other interesting Italian language films from the 60s, 70s and 80s have been given good quality, albeit non-English friendly, releases on DVD in Italy, then the masters for such releases obviously exist. Is the only reason preventing such interesting releases the fact that copyright holders are requesting too much money for UK home video rights?

I hope the Shameless release uses this artwork somewhere.

I don't see your point. What is about the shameless releases that makes you critisize the quality. As I understand it, Shameless often has specially restored releases with footage form many origins to make the editions as complete as possible. That could be why the quality is not always 201x-year-like. But considering the age of the films and the filming-material used (not always high-class quality) than it is perfectly understandable to my why the quality sometimes is a little weak.

Besides I think Shameless and Italian distributors hardly use the same masters; that is, as you state, due to copyright-reasons.

JAMIOUSE 4th September 2013 07:15 PM

I think g053584398 is saying that there's far more deserving titles that should get a release rather than The Nurse. He doesn't critisize the quality of Shameless's release just questions their choices of new releases, which rather alot of us are as well.

bedorca 5th September 2013 10:39 AM

WELCOME BACK SHAMELESS!

It's been wwaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy too long

You don't seem to have read my post properly. To say that you've got hold of the wrong end of the stick is something of an understatement.

Bet you would faint or laugh out loud if you knew what some companies want for the rights to release in the the UK, in the late nineties a certain nasty Nazi title was rumored to be well into six figures in dollars even before going before the BBFC (to be rejected again no doubt):lol:

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 18th September 2013 09:06 PM

How much they want for it?

I think it was $199k,:lol: whether they got it past the BBFC or not, think the reason they wanted so much were that Brits were going to Amsterdam and buying banned nasties for upwards of £100 a pop on vhs!! so they must have thought "We'll have some of that". Cannibal Ferox was £99.99 I recall.

I knew someone who bought A Clockwork Orange and Bloodsucking Freaks on vhs from Amsterdam and paid over £100 for the pair in 1994. How times have changed...Thank God.

I used to buy copies of copies of copies of releases that seem so mainstream compared to what we have now, although I never spent £100 but enough, either £9.99 or £19.99 for two films on one tape (this was mid to late 90's) We are so fortunate for what we can get these days for a comparatively small price and the care that goes into most of the releases. Every release can't please everyone though.

Some shops in Amsterdam would offer to put the tape in an innocent looking box and put a peel-off label on the tape itself, so us Brits could bring in all the zombie/cannibal/nasty-Nazi films we could buy, but being the cheapskate slacker that I am I would rather buy them second hand than having the customs man peel off a label and invite me to "come with me, sir":lol:

But yeah, such a different world today, even obscure films just a click away.

I hate going past customs full stop, I can't imagine it with something that might make them pull me aside, I'd always avoid that although my friends have brought me back questionable dvds from Amsterdam. I would look shifty, I always look shifty, even buying alcohol and I'm in my thirties.

Imported more than few from Cultvideo in Amsterdam myself in the nineties.
They worked out about twenty-odd quid each though.

Nice, I always wondered what customs thought of all the tapes brought in or mail ordered from Amsterdam actually were? "more porn for the pervs"

A guy told me once that he and a friend coming back from Holland on a ferry got stopped and his Exorcist vhs got confiscated but his mates porn mags sailed thru with a quick glance, they just checked there were no duplicates, more than one is 'distribution' or the like, seems like a lifetime ago now, Exorcist on TV and porn at the newsagents. Although what may come in 20 years time...

Hi everyone,

Keep your eyes out tomorrow at around midday for some great news on this upcoming Shameless film. There's only about 4 weeks until it's out!

antmumford 27th September 2013 11:00 AM

It's 12, where's this new artwork then? :p
