I have a lot of their Blu Ray releases and the quality is generally excellent.
I'm hoping Razorback features it's greatest artwork ever.
This beautiful poster is one of the reasons I love filmartwork.

Nostalgic 3rd April 2018 05:41 PM

I have Psycho 2&3, NOTLD '90, and will grab The Blob& Re Animator set when out.

Oh, and also have Silver Bullet, their release is superb!
As is the Australian Fly set (but i dont think thats Umbrella)

Sam 3rd April 2018 05:44 PM

What's the best place to pick Umbrella releases up, is it Amazon or somewhere else? Sorely tempted by that Deathwish double-bill Blu.

Could have saved myself a bit of cash, instead of forking out for those expensive german media books.:ohwell:

Justin101 7th April 2018 11:32 AM

I've bought mine from JB Hi-Fi in the past;

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 7th April 2018 04:55 PM

Yeah JB are a good source for Oz discs as well.

bronx ratnik 7th April 2018 06:46 PM

this is not an Auzzie movie but close NZ.
Battletruck aka Warlords of the 21st century.

this is a great post apocalyptic movie with a menace truck.

it's strange why Umbrella didn't release this movie?

'The Fly' set is from Madman. You can still get it from JB HiFi though.

that suggests the elements don't exist anymore, sad

As a Doctor Who fan I have become au fait with the realisation that art can be willfully destroyed without a seconds thought Rob. Hug!!

Weren't Umbrella releasing the Dagon Lovecraft adaption? Was wondering if anyone here was looking to pick that up.

I will be getting Dagon as soon as is possible, amazon sellers sometimes have them so here's hoping!

Rik 31st May 2018 07:40 PM

I can’t find Dagon on JBHifi, but the Re-animator blus aren’t all that pricey at the minute

Not sure what to make of that artwork. It's nice and colourful but reminds me of a clown rather than something from the depths.

Not keen on that Beyond Genres logo at the top either. Probably a reversible sleeve though so it wouldn't matter.

I can't say Dagon has been blessed with great artwork on dvd either.

Oh dear.

Let's hope for reversible artwork......

Nostalgic 6th June 2018 08:41 PM

So Dagon is missing the commentary from the r1 dvd?
Not comprehensive but will doubtless buy as I love the movie

SymbioticFunction 7th June 2018 02:53 AM

My wife (who adores HP Lovecraft) has asked me to pick up Dagon. :)

There are two commentaries on the dvd. Is there only one on the BD? Which one is missing?

Edit - Just seen Stephen's OP. Both commentaries are missing.

Love that Razorback art. Reminds me of a discarded Motorhead album cover.

Indeed. A classic image right there, and a million times better than the new art.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 7th June 2018 09:02 PM

That artwork was one of the reasons I got into collecting films in the first place, way back when Thorn-Emi released it along with WILD GEESE II.

Yeah I saw that. Bloody pointless! All they had to do was put the title on the front and spine and that would’ve made it at least useable.

Paul@TheOverlook 20th July 2018 06:57 PM

I'm getting sick of this newly-commissioned artwork - it's really beginnign to look tired and cheap now - some of the those that Arrow and Shout! commission are the WORST.

I thought it sucked from day one.

Every single one is a complete waste of time. No exceptions!

Rick Melton and Graham Humphries are excellent artists and their work is truly evocative of the era that they're emulating - some of the others are piss poor though - one artist in particular ain't too great at faces and seems to have an uncanny knack of making his subjects look like stroke victims.

I agree about Rick and Graham, i've even bought art from Rick, but i can't say i've ever been impressed by any of Rick's Arrow cover art back in the day, and Graham, i'd prefer to stick to original art such as The Pack.

Most of Scream Factory's art has been embarrassing and Arrow's new renderings are basically messes.

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 21st July 2018 11:01 AM

They're a mixed bag for sure. I love Arrow's recent Argento re-release covers and Rick's cover for Macabre was great. I can't think of a Scream Factory cover I've particularly liked... they just seem to be poorly composed floating head montages.

They, as with all art is subjective i guess. What one likes another won't.

I bet most people change their reversible sleeve round to the original art work side as soon as the cellophane comes off though.

Think of the savings made by companies if they'd figured this out. They wouldn't have to pay someone to paint something that wasn't necessary.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 21st July 2018 05:41 PM

Ah well.
Won't be long before a new German release of Razorback appears.

My first thought was Snaggletooth

although the Motorhead one is much better!
