I know Fox are no longer releasing The Simpsons on DVD or Bluray, the showrunner, Al Jean, said that it's 'down to the collapse in the DVD market' . Fox are releasing them online via Simpsons World.

That's a shame as I have the first 17 seasons and would like to own all of them. Owning them online isn't the same because there isn't the packaging or booklets which has always been a feature I like. Plus, what happens if something screws up with my ISP/computer and I'm without Internet access (or travelling somewhere) and want to watch something which is rightfully mine?

I would imagine because everything is actually already available. Take Anthro which is creating quite a stir. It's been available on dvd for years.

Also i'm presuming this quote just relates to Arrow. Other labels such as Network, Nucleus, Odeon, even Shameless, are still releasing dvd's.

Wonder if it's got anything to do with the show being a shadow of it's former self? ;)
