Full Moon Entertainment (now Full Moon Features), Charles Band's successor to Empire Pictures) released some classic straight to video films during the 90's and has recently come back with a vengeance in the last few years (admittedly, with nowhere near the level of awesomness as the heyday of the company, but with still watchable films). Do we have any fans of the company here? What are your favourite films they released? What would you like to see more sequels to? What was your favourite artwork they had? To jog your memories, here's some of the films they released.....

I always avoided Full Moon product due to the fact that most of it was available over here on the Film 2000 label and I assumed it would be crap.

During the 90's, Full moon movies were distributed in the US and UK by Paramount. Dont let the crappy Film 2000 releases put you off Pete.

From Paramount to Film 2000. What went wrong there?!

I might give them a chance and order a few. :)

One of the reasons I didn't-although I did own the Puppet Master films on VHS.

Looks like I'll need to investigate further....what's the best place to start Stephen?

I own THE ALCHEMIST,which was directed by Charles Band on the shitty VI (Which stands for VIDEOTRANSFERONTHISDISCIDIOT) label, but has the nice Videoform artwork.
This deserves a half decent dvd release.

What 'label' did Trancers fall under Stephen?

Not exactly sure why the distribution deal with Paramount came to an end.

Trancers was Empire Pictures Reaper. Trancers 2 -6 were Full Moon and Trancers 6 is to be avoided at all cost though, Zero budget and they couldn't even afford Tim Thomerson. Thank god Full Moon got back on their feet in the mid noughties!

Old Jack Deth giving Myers,Krueger and Voorhees a run for their money?

Pete 19th July 2011 08:03 PM

I just realised I have the first PUPPET MASTER :)

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 19th July 2011 08:08 PM

You watched it yet Pete?
I remember it being rather creepy!

I haven't, in fact I don't remember buying it.

Full Moon - 10 years of Madness. It contains some clips from Empire Pictures releases. We'll forgive it since they were both Charles Band's companies

I've seen the first two Trancers movies but I've never seen a single Puppet Master film. :o

Should I address this?

No worries guys, you've convinced me.

I've noticed The Horror Channel are showing the latest entry, Axis of Evil this weekend which I was going to SKY+.

But do you think I'd be better off watching them in order instead? :pop2:

Axis Of Evil is the only Puppet Master film I've not seen. I think it takes place somewhere between the prologue of the first PM film and PM III.. so you don't need to see the rest of the films.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 19th July 2011 09:03 PM

Start with the original Puppet Master.
I used to have a boxset of these as well!

Demdike@Cult Labs 19th July 2011 09:16 PM

A couple of years ago i bought around 20 of them one Halloween at Poundland. The only one i still have is Dead Man's Hand.

The Full Moon website has some nice box sets available. Welcome to FULL MOON DIRECT.com

That must have been when I bought PUPPET MASTER.

i loved there films when they were Empire Pictures with classics like Trancers,Zone Troopers,Terrorvision,Troll,Ghoulies,Dollls.
Then reincarnated as full moon you get trash like Trancers 2,Demonic Toys.Dollman is cool though

darthelvis 20th July 2011 07:41 AM

Seen the majority of the Puppet Master films and quite liked them. Shrunken heads was good fun and the first Subspecies film was not bad.

My brother used to collect the Puppet Master & Demonic Dolls toys but think he has sold most of them now.

I really want to see the Evil Bong film!

wayfarer 20th July 2011 11:33 AM

I like Trancers 1 and 2. The rest are just watchable. Trancers 6 is dire. The only plus is the return to the original title music.

I bought the Trancers 1-5 boxset from an Amazon Seller. Full Moon's P&P was ridiculous at the time.

Vampix 20th July 2011 04:33 PM

I quite like Castle Freak, was that a Full Moon production?

Yeah, Castle Freak was from Full Moon.

Demdike@Cult Labs 30th August 2018 04:18 PM

Full Moon are releasing a new line of old faves as VHS retro big box edition dual format releases with action figures.

So far i've noticed Laserblast and Puppet Master. Wonder if 88 Films will latch onto these?

Am I the only one that would love Necropolis to get this treatment.

A Leeanne Baker figure would be neat!

bleakshaun 31st August 2018 06:57 AM

I'm assuming Castle Freak and Demonic Toys will get the same treatment.
Hope Dollman gets released

"Full Moon Features has announced the upcoming Blu-ray and DVD release of Jose Luis Merino's eerie and erotic 1970s masterwork ORGY OF THE LIVING DEAD (aka THE HANGING WOMAN, BEYOND THE LIVING DEAD, RETURN OF THE ZOMBIES) starring Paul Naschy!

The film will be presented uncut from the original 35mm negative. This is part of an exciting multi-picture Eurohorror licensing deal that will see Full Moon releasing several obscure genre films fully uncut and remastered, including such as the Italian/Turkish Klaus Kinski thrillers THE HAND THAT FEEDS THE DEAD and LOVER OF THE MONSTER."
