Odeon are putting out Ken Russell's Mahler on the 23rd... I hope this will be a good release, I skipped the previous Freemantle disc...

Vampix 18th January 2012 09:36 PM

I'd like to see them release Pete Walker's House of Whipcord and House of Mortal Sin (aka The Confessional Murders).I'd also love to see them release The Mutations.

Handyman Joe 19th January 2012 05:36 AM

Another one I'm dying to see is The Ballad of Tam Lin, Roddy McDowells only directorial credit. Great cast, whiff of witchcraft/paganism and some 60s groovieness - sadly it's in rights hell I think.

Both of those were available on R1 DVD. The Subversive release of The Mutations is excellent.

I remember seeing 70's film THE MUTATIONS years ago on video
and it was rubbish

[QUOTE=Demdike;210042]My order for Mermaids of Tiburon arrived today.

Inside is a card to fill in asking you which films you would like to see Odeon release and which genre you are interested in. I would guess the card is in all of Odeon's 2012 new releases.

If you fill it in and send it back you will recieve a new dvd which is not currently available of a 1945 RKO pictures film called Step by Step.

The film stars Lawrence Tierney (Reservoir Dogs) and its brief synopsis is as follows - Johnny, an ex-marine, and Evelyn, a chance acquaintance, find themselves caught up in a Nazi spy ring in California.

Can you give some info about the free dvd.Is it going to be released and does this offer includes U.k residents only?

The dvd has no release schedule, the offer is on till June 30th so it won't be out before then.

It doesn't specify UK only for the offer.

I'm not like Bdc with Code Red you know.;)

My second Odeon disc should be with me very soon. :)

I'm looking forward to adding more to the collection very soon. :pop2:

I have the US Redemption dvd of this. Do you know if the UK disc is better quality?

dream demon 13th February 2012 07:23 PM

According to DVD Compare, the Redemption disc is interlaced while the Odeon disc is progressive, however they are all 'open matte'. I would expect the Odeon to maybe look better due to being progressive, but it was worth a gamble for £3.99.

Here is the DVD Compare comparison -

Rewind @ www.dvdcompare.net - Black Torment (The) (1964)

Mojo 13th February 2012 07:26 PM

Thanks for that dd. :)

dream demon 13th February 2012 10:12 PM

My pleasure. :thumb:

Vampix 26th February 2012 08:01 PM

I've already got the DVD, but I'd love to see Odeon release Pete Walker's cult classic Frightmare to Blu-ray if possible.

My free Odeon dvd turned up today.

If you go to their website anyone can now claim one just by telling them which films you would like on dvd.

dream demon 28th March 2012 05:21 PM

Thanks for the tip!

It would be interesting to know what everyone has requested and compare notes. Personally, I requested Expose (1975) fully uncut. :)

My requests were The Ghoul, The Mutations and What Became of Jack and Jill.

Expose` would be equally cool.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 28th March 2012 08:27 PM

Sure would mate.

I requested TALES OF THAT WITNESS MADNESS.Not a particularly good film but a decent cast & I'm a sucker for horror anthologies.

Just been discussing that one on the train back from manchester this morning! I think its actually a darned interesting entry into the anthology movie sub-genre and definately in need of a release.

bdc 30th March 2012 02:02 PM

That Odeon survey doesn't seem to be open to non-UK residents?

I'd love to see some rare ones pop up like What Became of Jack and Jill,Baby Love,The Touchables,Night after Night after Night and some more of the British horror/thriller films directed by José Ramón Larraz...

The Jokers (1967),Smashing Time (1967) and The Guru (1969) would also be nice...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtKEsYvAxRY

Btw someone should release the English language version of The Brain (1969)!
There's already a beautiful French and a shorter German dvd (original German version was shorter) and seems Olive Films is planning a US release?

Pete 30th March 2012 02:03 PM

I requested STRIKE COMMANDO :D

the blob 30th March 2012 03:12 PM

I voted for THE GHOUL. It was that or LEGEND OF THE WEREWOLF and I was more in a 'Ghoul' mood...

That may well be getting an R1 release. Educated rumour at the moment..

We should be beating Strike Commando anyway. :jest:

Pete 30th March 2012 03:37 PM

The only way there will ever be a decent release of SC is if I win the lottery and release it myself. :ohwell:

Until then I will bombard every distributor with daily e-mails ordering them to release it :D

btw THE GHOUL - are you talking about the Boris Karlof film?

You've still got more chance of it coming out than The Ghoul!

Excellent choice!
Another forgotten gem.

I voted for Expose AND Tales that witness Madness.

Considering the director and cast you'd think THE GHOUL would have had a release by now.

I actually know who own's the rights to SC and it seems to be split between two licensors.

****,if both labels decide to release it,we'll be spoiled for two quality releases then eh?

Pete 30th March 2012 06:50 PM

Of the two I'd prefer Cornerstone as at least there'd be a chance of it being in widescreen. Still look like shit mind.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 30th March 2012 06:54 PM

I'd rather have Vipco arise from the ashes and release it!

At least they'd rip off a widescreen cassette version!
