'The Severed Arm' - Now available at Vinegar Syndrome direct - $24.99

"This special limited edition embossed slipcover (designed by Earl Kessler Jr.) is limited to 4,000 units and is only available here at VinegarSyndrome.com!

While camping, a group of friends become trapped in a cave. Desperate and starving, they draw straws to decide which one should suffer the severing of his arm so that the others can eat. But no sooner than making this fateful amputation, they're rescued, though their unfortunate victim has been driven hopelessly mad by the experience. Years later, the survivors have all moved on with their lives, that is until someone with a very sharp axe to grind begins stalking them and chopping off their arms, one by one...

A drive-in and home video staple, thanks in large part to a notorious title and insane concept, Tom Alderman's THE SEVERED ARM is a stylish and atmospheric murder mystery/proto-slasher. Co-starring Deborah Walley (Beach Blanket Bingo), Marvin Kaplan (Wild at Heart) and Vince Martorano (The Candy Snatchers) and featuring expectedly excellent cinematography by Robert Maxwell (Blood Mania, The Centerfold Girls), Vinegar Syndrome brings THE SEVERED ARM to disc, fully uncut and in its very first authorized edition, from a brand new 4K scan of its original 35mm camera negative."

These releases will ONLY be available on our website and at participating brick and mortar retailers. Absolutely no other online stores will be stocking them. This release is strictly limited to 4,000 units and will never be re-released in another version.

Jake Quinn is a disgraced cop who yearns to re-join the LAPD, but makes his living working as a bouncer. 'Dr. Jekyll's Dungeon of Death' - Now available at Vinegar Syndrome direct - $24.99

"L.A. Wars is part of the Vinegar Syndrome Archive collection, celebrating forgotten cinematic oddities from the video store era. This collection was inspired by our own video store, The Archive in Bridgeport, CT.

Unique to this line, each hand numbered limited edition release will come fitted in a specially designed, bottom loading VHS inspired slipcase, while also including a double-sided poster.

These releases will ONLY be available on our website and at participating brick and mortar retailers. Absolutely no other online stores will be stocking them. This release is strictly limited to 3,000 units and will never be re-released in another version.

Dr. Henry Jekyll is the last in his family's line of mad, but brilliant scientists. Holed up in his ornate Victorian mansion in San Francisco, he has concocted a serum that, when injected, turns humans into crazed and violent fighters, with unstoppable strength and unquenchable bloodlust. But Henry has also kidnapped the beautiful daughter of his mentor, Professor Atkinson, whom he keeps as a prisoner, all the while his sister Hilda becomes the subject of his horrifying and rage induced torments. But when Professor Atkinson unexpectedly arrives, searching for his missing daughter, Henry's deranged world begins to unravel...

The only non-X rated title directed by mysterious filmmaker James Wood, DR JEKYLL’S DUNGEON OF DEATH traverses genres ranging from horror, domestic drama and brutal fight sequences, while boasting a surprising array of perverse and fetishistic torture sequences. Starring a mostly unknown cast, the film bounces wildly between overwrought camp and surprisingly grim and unpleasant abuse of its bizarre characters. A victim of poor quality VHS releases, which rendered its low lighting focused camerawork nearly impossible to make out, Vinegar Syndrome Archive brings this truly unclassifiable exploitation oddity to Blu-ray, newly restored in 2K from its 35mm negative."

'Alphabet City' Fun City Edition - Pre-order available at Vinegar Syndrome direct - $24.99

Release date: September 1st

"Fun City Editions is a new boutique label focused on creating deluxe home video editions of maverick repertory cinema that can best be described as works that exist "outside of their time." Spanning an array of genres and countries, but with a unifying focus on forgotten and overlooked treasures, the initial wave of titles will come from the New American Cinema. Each Fun City release will present stunning new restorations produced and overseen by Vinegar Syndrome and comprehensive extras which contextualize and illuminate the film's artistic and historic value. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

Johnny (Vincent Spano, Baby It’s You and Over the Edge) controls the drug trade in New York’s rough Alphabet City neighborhood—as long as his mob bosses let him. But, when he refuses to follow orders to torch the tenement building he grew up in, Johnny puts himself and his loved ones in their unforgiving crosshairs. No Wave filmmaker Amos Poe’s (The Blank Generation and Subway Riders) neo-noir cult favorite oozes ‘80s neon-lit, punk-tinged style.

The innovative and vividly colorful visuals spring from the lens of cinematographer Oliver Wood (TV’s Miami Vice, The Honeymoon Killers and Face/Off). Chic co-founder and dance music legend Nile Rodgers’ supremely catchy synth-pop score propels the action. The cast of rising and veteran talents includes Kate Vernon (Pretty in Pink), Jami Gertz (Less Than Zero and The Lost Boys), Michael Winslow (the Police Academy series), Kenny Marino (Prince of the City and Death Wish 3) and Zohra Lampert (Let’s Scare Jessica to Death and Splendor in the Grass).

Restored and available on Blu-ray for the first time, Alphabet City is an evocative cinematic snapshot of a New York City that has long since vanished."

Fogrotten. Seriously, what an awesome word.

I intend to use it in movie reviews.

Love the way it sounds tripping off the tongue. Really evil. Cool name for a Death Metal band too.

Out in the dank London fog for so long his flesh began to putrefy, his body slowly fog rotting from the mist.

'Grave Robbers (Ladrones de Tumbas)' - Pre-order available at Vinegar Syndrome direct - $24.99

Release date: September 29

"In the early Spanish colonial age, the leader of a satanic sect was condemned to eternal damnation by a priest, and was left to rot with an axe forever embedded in his chest. Now, in modern day, a group of teenage, treasure seeking, grave robbers accidentally uncover his hidden tomb, dislodging the axe in the process. But what they don’t realize is that they’ve unwittingly re-woken the diabolical killer, who promptly sets out to complete his unholy mission of spawning the son of Satan, while brutally butchering anyone who happens to get in the way...

Heavily inspired by late 80s slasher films, Ruben Galindo Jr's GRAVE ROBBERS is one of the best forgotten films to come from Mexico’s oft overlooked 80s horror boom. With exceptional production value, gruesome death scenes, and a relentless killer akin to his many American counterparts, GRAVE ROBBERS feels right at home with any of the later entries in the Friday the 13th series. 'Cemetery Of Terror' - Pre-order available at Vinegar Syndrome direct - $27.99

Release date: October 27

"It’s Halloween night and a group of bored teenagers decide to pull a ghastly prank (as a means of getting lucky): stealing a corpse from the local morgue and taking it to a nearby cemetery where they perform a Satanic ritual in an attempt to bring it back to life. Unfortunately, they happen to choose the body of a savage serial killer who has just been shot dead by police, ending a recent spate of satanically influenced murders. Unwittingly reviving the bloodthirsty sadist to the realm of the undead, the group of fun-seeking youngsters risk becoming dinner for the devil worshipping zombie, with only occult expert, Dr. Carden (legendary Mexican character actor Hugo Stiglitz), able to try and put an end to the madness.

The directing debut of Rubén Galindo Jr. (Don’t Panic, Grave Robbers), CEMETERY OF TERROR is easily the wildest zombie movie to ever emerge from Mexico! Filled with extra gratuitous gore effects that would feel right at home in a Fulci film and all of the ludicrous plotting of a Bruno Mattei epic, CEMETERY is non-stop thrills and bloodshed from beginning to end. Vinegar Syndrome presents this quintessential piece of Mexican exploitation cinema on Blu-ray, in a new 4K restoration of recently unearthed 35mm negative elements."

'Rest In Pieces' - Pre-order available at Vinegar Syndrome direct - $27.99

Release date: October 27

"Helen Hewitt has inherited her recently deceased Aunt Catherine’s humongous country villa. After arriving at their new home, she and her husband Bob immediately feel a sense of unease and hostility from the estate’s staff and tenants, all of whom do their best to make the young couple feel unwelcome. As strange and increasingly sinister events begin to take place around her, Helen becomes determined to uncover the truth about the goings on, and slowly begins to unearth the horrifying and unspeakable evil occurring at the mysterious mansion…

One of a handful of films that acclaimed Spanish horror and exploitation auteur, José Ramón Larraz, made primarily for the American market, REST IN PIECES plays like a refined piece of Euro-horror as filtered through the trashy mindset of late 80s, direct-to-video trash. Pleasantly grotesque (the gore effects earned a 1987 Goya Award nomination) and with a wry sense of self aware humor, REST IN PIECES co-stars Dorothy Malone (The Big Sleep, Basic Instinct), Jack Taylor (Conan the Barbarian), and Patty Shepard (My Dear Killer). Never before released on disc, Vinegar Syndrome is delighted to present REST IN PIECES on Blu-ray in a new 4K restoration of its 35mm camera negative."

'Dial Code Santa Claus (aka 3615 code Père Noël)' - Pre-order available at Vinegar Syndrome direct - $34.99

Release date: October 27

"Young Thomas is obsessed with action movies and video games. So much so that, when his mother is out, he delights in turning the sprawling mansion where he and his invalid grandfather live into a makeshift battleground; concocting and setting elaborate traps. Home alone, grandfather aside, on Christmas Eve, Thomas is soon faced with an unexpected - and very unwelcome - guest, a department store Santa Claus who is, in fact, a deranged escapee from a nearby asylum! Putting his skills into action, Thomas begins an all out assault against the murderous Saint Nick, rather than risking his Christmas turning into something closer to Halloween…

A dazzling mix of thriller, action, and horror, and long rumored to be the unofficial inspiration for one of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters of the 90s, René Manzor’s DIAL CODE SANTA CLAUS (aka 3615 code Père Noël aka Deadly Games aka Game Over) is a would-be cult sensation that sadly never was. Featuring ultra stylized cinematography from Michel Gaffier which highlights the often dream-like production design, Vinegar Syndrome is honored to present your next holiday favorite, DIAL CODE SANTA CLAUS, in its U.S. disc debut and worldwide 4k Ultra HD debut, from a brand new 4K restoration of its original 35mm camera negative!"

'Whodunit (aka Island of Blood)' - Pre-order available at Vinegar Syndrome direct - $27.99

Release date: October 27

"In a large house on an otherwise uninhabited pacific island, a group of hopeful young actors have been assembled to prepare for their roles in what they’ve been told will be a very unique, family oriented film. But on their first night, one of them is horribly boiled alive and dies. Although initially assumed to be an accident, as other mangled and mutilated bodies begin to appear, it becomes apparent that a madman is lurking among them and seems to be concocting all of the diabolical deaths in accordance with the macabre lyrics to an obscure song…

One of the stranger cinematic interpretations of Agatha Christie’s classic novel, And Then There Were None, William T. Naud’s WHODUNIT (aka Island of Blood and Scared Alive) takes firm psychotronic hold of its ‘respectable’ literary source material, transforming it into an over-the-top gore fest, complete with a jaw dropping, out of left field, final twist. A victim of decades worth of terrible looking and extremely dark VHS releases, Vinegar Syndrome is overjoyed to revive this never-on-disc early 80s slasher and present it on Blu-ray, from a fresh, 4K restoration of its 35mm camera negative!"

Special features and specs:
  • Region Free Blu-ray
  • Newly scanned & restored in 4k from its 35mm original negative

^what a freakin' line-up.

Love VS, hate the exchange rate. It's all Johnson's fault the CNUT

Demdike@Cult Labs 12th September 2020 12:39 PM

Vinegar Syndrome put Arrow to shame.

Justin101 12th September 2020 12:56 PM

I'm sure that I read somewhere that VS has their own scanning facility as they are technically film archivists which is why they can bring out the rarer and less commercial films as they're not paying 3rd party scanning rates.

I wish it wasn't so expensive to order from them directly though, I usually wait until they have the films on WowHD for less than £15 but then you usually miss out on the slip covers.

Funny enough, today I was going through my stored collection and swapping out some titles from the recently watched pile, and I grabbed the VS release of 'The Bees' for a belated John Saxon tribute viewing :)

I'll just say this.

I got it in a Shriek Show three pack fifteen or so years ago accompanied by Zombi 3 and Zombie 4 After Death.

I've watched those two countless times.

I've seen Killing Birds twice.

Demoncrat 15th September 2020 10:54 PM

Can't be Rick, as there are no BOOBS in it D

If I remember it at all, it made Birdemic look like The Birds

Justin101 15th September 2020 10:56 PM
