A press release from Second Sight: Following its recent announcement on the acquisition of UK Home Video and VOD rights to George A Romero’s Dawn of the Dead and Martin from New Amsterdam Entertainment, Second Sight Films is delighted to confirm further details on its plans for the seminal films. The company is grateful to producer Richard P Rubinstein for granting them access to the films’ original elements, including an original camera negative for Dawn of the Dead and a dupe negative for Martin, which will be used to create brand new 4K scans for its UK releases. Dawn of The Dead is set to be released as a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray with HDR and will feature George A Romero’s Original, Unrated US Theatrical Release Cut (2:07), Romero’s Pre-US Release Cannes Cut (2:17) and the foreign edition edited by Dario Argento. The scanning, colour grading and restoration of both films will be managed by Final Frame under the supervision of Director of Photography Michael Gornick. The mastering and encoding will be handled by one of the entertainment technology industry’s most experienced specialists, David Mackenzie of Fidelity in Motion. Slated for release late summer 2019, complete with brand new special features and more, Second Sight Films will announce further news via its social media channels. :woot: |
"Two Amicus classics get our Limited Edition treatment!! More news to follow.." |
I think I've come to prefer Second Sight over Arrow. They seem to be putting out much better and much more exciting genre films. Dawn of the Dead, Martin and Asylum will all be day one purchases (as were Xtro and The Changeling). Next of Kin also would have been day one if I hadn't already bought the Australian disc. |

Site is live. I've locked in my pre-orders for both Asylum and The House that Dripped Blood. Slightly more expensive than Amazon, but **** Amazon. |

Amazon can suck a dick! Ordered Bellman & True from them. Released on Monday. £3 postage (arseholes!). Only arrived this morning. Add to that the prices they’e selling some Arrow titles for (£8-£10 more than other places), and I hope the c***s go out of business sooner rather than later. |
Got my order in for Asylum & House that dripped blood direct from Second sight, screw Amazon, they won't be getting my money  |
WHERE is this site? |

Thanks Dem.Was panicking there! :thankingyou: |

From what i understand it only launched yesterday evening. |
The pricing isn't competitive and you have to spend 50 pounds for free shipping. I was hoping that cutting out the middle man would lead to some sort of savings or at least free postage for UK orders. Uncertain that I would use this option. |

Or ebay scalpers. Spot on Rob. |
I must be quite lucky as I've never had an unfulfilled internet order as of yet. I almost always pre-order day one which probably helps somewhat. Edit: Added the word 'almost.' |
Do they take the money at time of order or when it ships? Also where is the sign up option on website? Want to create an account but not order yet. |
Paid with Paypal. Taken there and then. |

Thank you! Will be on there when Dawn of the Dead comes out! |
The prices have dropped for the 2 Amicus titles on Amazon, so I’ve caved and preordered from them, despite saying I’d never preorder from there again  The House That Dripped Blood Asylum |

“DAWN OF THE DEAD UPDATE! Following the 4K scan of the camera negative, grading and framing approved by DP Michael Gornick, we now have about 4 weeks left of manual frame by frame restoration at Final Frame followed by the HDR grade for the UHD. We are releasing the 3 cuts on 3 separate discs (both Blu-Ray and UHD) plus bonus disc so the authoring stage will then take several weeks for the best possible encodes by David Mackenzie. We are currently hoping for a release date in February and will update again in the next month. Aside from the 3 versions of the film itself, plus archive and new bonus material, we are also working on other exciting additional content for the box set. We have been very fortunate to have Michael Gornick involved and it was great to hear his comment on work to date: ‘I place upon this extraordinary effort a nihil obstat in certification of its quality’. More soon…” February is fine with me, it’s not like I don’t own enough editions of my favourite horror film  |
