Ghostbusters III (Actually happening)

Yes it looks like the wait will soon be over... Personally, I really can't wait. Bill Murray I'd like back but I can live with him not appearing. If anything it'll be a good tribute to Ramis.
Ghostbusters 3 to begin production in 2015 but without Ivan Reitman and small part for Dan Aykroyd | Metro News

Gothmogxx 19th March 2014 07:16 PM

I'm going in with no expectations. Not because I'm not not excited (I am), but because it will never live up to the hype like with Phantom Menace and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, both of which I like but not with the first watch. Second time I accepted them for what they were and it was an easier ride.

Ghostbusters is my favourite film of all time, I've loved it since I was 3 or 4 and I must have watched it hundreds of times.

This all just sounds awful to me. Ghostbusters is something special (to me at least) and Paul Feig's films are not. I can just see it being loud, shouty, annoying and immature and to me that is not what Ghostbusters is all about. I am dreading this film.

Get in Rebel Wilson and destroy it's altogether

Demdike@Cult Labs 28th January 2015 11:01 AM

Oh dear.

Paul@TheOverlook 28th January 2015 12:39 PM

I'd be happy to give almost anything a go (with reservations) but the announcement of Melissa McCarthy in the cast is poison as far as the possibility of me seeing it now. I've watched three or four films in which she features and cannot bear her. Every so often someone comes along and becomes a marquee name for a brief period and their fame is completely inexplicable - in McCarthy's case she's hammy, unfunny and her onscreen persona is completely obnoxious and unlikeable.

I know that Stephen is a fan of THE HEAT from a couple of years ago but to me it's a case point in just how annoying she is and the way in which Hollywood works purely on commercial terms, without thinking about longevity of its art (i.e. "she got laughs in BRIDESMAIDS, let's cast her in this"). She ruined the film with her criminally humourless schtick in spite of Sandra Bullock's best efforts playing the "straight guy" opposite McCarthy's "funny".

GHOSTBUSTERS is a brand that's been around for 30 years, through two films, animated series, computer games and books but the makers of this new film want to chuck a flash-in the-pan, soon-to-be has-been in in one of the starring roles. They have absolutely no respect for the property at all.

I'd take Rebel Wilson over McCarthy any day.

Demdike@Cult Labs 28th January 2015 12:56 PM

Looking at the cast and their Saturday Night Live style resumes makes me think it'll come across more like a Scary Movie parody than a remake / reboot.

Couldn't agree more! The most annoying actress ever. All she can do is be loud and obscene. Such a talent.

Usually I end up seeing all these remakes that keep coming out, but this one... no... I will never watch it. I couldn't even finish watching the same director's movie called The Heat, pure torture!

Rik 28th January 2015 01:16 PM

Ghostbusters is one of those films from my childhood that I used to watch pretty much every Sunday morning while my older sister and parents were still in bed, I saw the sequel at the cinema and despite it not being a patch on the original, I still thoroughly enjoy it. Then came the Real Ghostbusters cartoon, which I loved watching after school, now we have this "film" which I'm sure will ruin those childhood memories and totally kill the franchise, so I've no intention of watching this, I bet Harold Ramis is turning in his grave right now!

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 28th January 2015 02:35 PM

I've never even heard of this Melissa McCarthy, but by the sounds of things that is a good thing!

I have heard of none of these people in my life.

Where is Bill? Dan? Ernie? Harold is unfortunately dead and I know Bill hates the idea but surely we could have had Dan and Ernie training a new team? I'd gladly take that.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 28th January 2015 06:04 PM

No Murray or Ackroyd?

Another total Hollywood cash grabbing ****-up.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 28th January 2015 06:06 PM

It wouldn't quite have been the same without Ramis, but the original characters were as entertaining as all the (at the time) state of the art effects.

gag 27th December 2021 05:31 PM

Didn't know where to put this, but it's ghostbusters.

Don't know if it's been mentioned if so I do apologise.

Delete if think appropriate.

VIDEOJam-Packed ‘Ghostbusters’ Ultimate Collection Boasts Rare 114-Minute “Preview Cut” of Original Film Plus Much More New Footage!!

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has not only officially announced their Ghostbusters: Afterlife 4K, Blu-ray and DVD release, but a jam-packed box set that has some seriously buzzworthy new special features.

We’ve already received several Ghostbusters releases, but the forthcoming Ghostbusters Ultimate Collection is truly loaded with new extras, including an extremely rare 114-minute “Preview Cut” of the original film (presented in Standard Definition) and lost Dana Barrett audition footage with several prominent actresses that all lost out to Sigourney Weaver.

The “Preview Cut” of the film is said to be an unearthed early cut of the film with “alternate takes, additional scenes, early effects” and more. It’s unclear the depth of the changes, but it could include some of the newly-discovered footage included on the Steelbook release.

The other highlight is a collection of several auditions for the role of Dana Barrett, featuring Pet Sematary‘s Denise Crosby, Weird Science‘s Kelly LeBrock, and more!

For the superfan, there are also over an hour of raw dailies, encompassing 7 scenes from the film!

But wait, there’s MORE. The Ultimate Collection also includes a whopping 19 NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN deleted scenes from Ghostbusters II!

Lastly, before we dig into the full extra feature breakdown, it’s worth noting that Sony Home Entertainment has made a last-minute decision to include a Digital Download of Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters (2016). As of this writing, there is no physical component.

The Ghostbusters Ultimate Collection is available at retailers on February 1, 2022, is presented in collectible “ghost trap” packaging with lights, and includes a full 220-page reprint of the rare 1985 “Making Ghostbusters” book!

The difference is that Ghostbusters releases are all over the world whilst Battle Royale are all Arrow UK releases.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 30th December 2021 08:12 AM

And still has had more Arrow releases.... :heh:
