TV shows based off films

with the recent tv shows like

Psycho not seen
Exorcist not seen
Sleepy hollow pretty decent what I saw

Just wondering what TV shows are actually based of films

Here just a few I can think of top my head probably more if I sat down and thought about it.

Terminator ..Sarah Connor chronicles.. only saw first series quite enjoyed it.
City if men / city of god saw first few episode like the films but without the violence ..cant speak for later episodes
Starship troopers .
Tremors
Lock stock and two smoking barrels .. thought the TV series of this was really good stuck to same type of concept of the film

Can you think of any more tv shows based off films that are worth watching ?

Demdike@Cult Labs 28th March 2014 03:45 PM

Buffy The Vampire Slayer was a far superior show to it's earlier film starring Kristy Swanson

DaveH 28th March 2014 03:47 PM

A couple of recent ones include
Hannibal
From Dusk Till Dawn

I've watched a couple. It's dire. Makes me sad that it's been announced that it's getting a 2nd season.

I've always enjoyed the Planet of the Apes tv series which ran for just 14 episodes in 1974.

Anyone who likes the films should definitely see it.

pure classic televison. re watched tv series just before xmas again anothher tv show feels like they didnt finish it of ending was a bit to be desired and could have been better or at least another episode or to with a better ending . but otherwise brilliant tv.

Dave Boy 28th March 2014 08:46 PM

My favorite episode of Planet Of The Apes is 'The Trap', where Burke and Urko are trapped underground.
Remember the animated series Return To The Planet Of The Apes ?

Which hopefully never gets made, the trailer for it looked cheap and bloody awful...

FDTD is pretty decent so far, but they should move away from the film much more, because it shows the quality rift between the actors a bit too much for my taste...

I would say the daddy of them all was MASH.

There are quite a few that have done it.

I used to like Alien Nation. Good film and good TV show. (It was only cancelled as it was so expensive to produce not because it was poor, and they continued with regular TV movies for the show).

There is also Chicago Hope was a TV series of William Hurts The Doctor (where Chicago Hope had everyone but William Hurt in it). I used to watch this soley as my mother loved it and we would watch it together.

Robocop - never watched it, but do know that back in the 90s the pilot for the TV show was making the rounds claimng to be Robocop 4.

Mr and Ms Smith is one I have always wanted to track down to watch simply as I have a thing for Jordanna Brewster who is playing Angelina Jolies role in the TV show.

I never watched it, but I was shocked to find a few years back Roy Schieders okish movie Blue Thunder was made to a TV series with Police Academy's Bubba Smith and Dana Carvey from Waynes World as rival to Airwolf.

There is also Highlander, which I loved the film, but never gave the TV show a chance. But then they made the fourth film a cross over - so gave it a miss.

And also A Nightmare on Elm street TV show - which when I was young I loved, but have not seen an episode in about 20 years so may be terrible now.

Urko opened the Tesco store in Stevenage in the 70s. My friend has a signed photo from the day.

From Ron's rather explicit selfie on the "what are you listening to" thread, I imagine it would be difficult to tell Ron and Urko apart in the flesh/fur.

It's not exactly based on the film. It's an original story set within the films universe. Can't wait to see it. Watched the film again recently, and it's still as good as I remembered.

I used to be taken to Selfridges to see Father Christmas in the 70s but that sounds far better.

JoshuaKaitlyn 25th May 2014 10:32 PM

My Grandfather use to take us for our Christmas prezzies, that year I think I got the Evel Knievel Dragster racer! It use to make right racket when winding it up and flew of the ramp in a wheelie, the front spoiler use to extend outwards! Ahhh the memories! :-)

I have seen and meet Eddie Kidd. Still completely off topic, I was at the British Motorbike Grand Prix when between races they filmed some of the races for "Silver Dream Racer".

I'll trump that with getting my picture taken with Barry Sheane in the pits at Brands Hatch after a race in '82. Happy days.

My Dad used to know Barry Sheen and still drinks with Phil Reed on occasion...also here's a picture of my Great Uncle, George Brown who was 24 times world champion at sprinting from a standing start. Ha, beat that!

I come from a bit of a biking background, my Dad used to race in the 70s and do trials riding in the 80s. He also owned a motorbike shop for a bit and took me to my first TT on the back of his bike when I was 10! At 72 he still owns and rides 3 bikes.

:focus: I think we have hijacked this thread for long enough:)

I'm reserving any judgement on this until I see some of it. I was hoping that they'd continue the movies with the darker version of Ash shown in the end credits of the last one. (as in the remake/reboot/extra story).
Given that Ash is on on years now, it could well be a kind of "Bubba Evil Dead".
