Tonight i watched Chickens Come home and Come Clean. Both featuring Mae Busch, both of which she's trying to cause marital strife for Olly.Come clean has a great gag with Charlie Hall as Ice cream vendor and Mae Busch is in brilliant screeching mode. And ends nicely with Stan goin down the plughole.
Chickens Come Home.
"And how is Mrs. Laurel?"
Stan: "Oh fine thank you"
Mrs. Hardy: "I'd love to meet her some time"
Stan: "Neither do I too"
Mae Busch is trying to blackmail Olly who's company director of fertilizer company.Stan spends most of his time rolling around with Mae and James Finlayson has some great moments as Ollys butler.
What sticks in my mind is these were shown on BBC 2 alot during the late 70's and early 80's,and these two definately stuck in my mind,Stan goin down the plughole,Mae busch drowning and Stan wrestling Mae.

I love the double take that Mrs Hardy and James Finlayson do when Stan and Ollie try to leave with Mae Busch on their shoulders. They just can't believe their eyes. Just awesome !

Going Bye-Bye!
tonight watched Going Bye-Bye!again,a classic example of why the 2 reel short's were so brilliant, not a sec of
screentime is wasted,no filler is needed as gags come thick and fast.Olly's sarcasm at Stan, first with his
impression of him
Ollie: [mimicking Stan] Aren't you gonna hang him?
Ollie: Couldn't you see that he was *annoyed*?
Then at his newspaper ad
"It's very nice brief - and right to the point!"
Its this verbal rapport that I really luv, sure the slapstick is fun but there bickering and snide digs are just wonderful and there comic timing is impeccable.
Butch's girlfriend: Do you have any keys?

Ollie: Keys?

Butch's girlfriend: Yeah, my friend is locked in the trunk. You see he was packing and he accidentally fell in.

Stan: It happens.

Mae Busch and Walter Long are so scary together yet so right to.
