The X-Files I am jaw dropped at the fact that there's no X-Files thread here. The only one I could find is this... Quote:
I'm certain that if there's fans of TFTC and The Twilight Zone on Cult Labs then there has to be X-Files fans so i'm starting this thread  |
I enjoyed the X-Files for the first 4 seasons and then lost interest, i felt it had run out of one off storylines and the main plot was going nowhere, far too many questions and a lack of answers. I picked up series 1 on dvd a couple of years ago and enjoyed it again, i haven't followed it up yet though. Its one of those things i would like to buy but its not essential . |

It took me about two years but I have all the seasons + the two films. The story line is great to follow when you watch all the seasons in order for the first time but now I just go back and watch random episodes. I've really been meaning to pick up The Lone Gunman spin off series because those guys have got to be my favourite characters. It's so expensive everywhere though! |
I have the two films as well, i prefer I want to believe to the first one. |
Hmm, I don't really know which I prefer. I think they're both good in their own way. |
Its reading and posting in threads like this that make me think "should i have a look how much season 2 is at the moment?" |

A wonderful series with some great storylines and many great individual episodes. To my mind one of the finest television drama series of all time. |

XFiles is the greatest ever though. It will always beat Twin Peaks ;) |
I'm going to echo Demdike's sentiments somewhat, and say that the first 4 seasons were pretty rock-solid and represented some of the best TV ever made, in my opinion. Things took a rapid downhill slide after that, and aside from the odd few decent episodes here and there, the bulk of the series was just filler to me. The introduction of Doggett was the beginning of the end in my eyes. The final season in particular was all over the place, and the finale so rushed and cobbled together, I was actually embarrassed for Chris Carter. That said, I love the show and nothing that has been produced since has come close to the enjoyment I used to get from watching the X-Files on TV when I was 11/12. Me and my friends used to watch it religiously every week, and discuss Gillian Anderson's attributes at great length. :D I actually own all the seasons on DVD and usually go through the series from start to finish every year. I find the last couple a bit of a chore though! As for the comment that The X-Files is better than Twin Peaks: BLASPHEMY! :tongue1: By the way, The X-Files geek in me likes your D.P.O. sig, dog. ;) |

I'm not sure what my favourite episode is... Love these: Squeeze / Tooms Ice Die Hand Die Verletzt Our Town Hell Money Home |
Funny how must of us are in agreement, for me I rate season 2 & 3 higher than the others(the only ones I wanted to own) loved the non California look in the early years, a bit like 'Stargate' that Canadian look just seems to fit. |
Season DVD sets of The X Files are on offer for £12.99 each from the HMV website at the moment, for those who are interested. The Lone Gunmen boxset can be picked up for £10.85 from Zaavi as well. |

I find it impossible to find Kirsten Dunst attractive, as I first saw her as a freaky kid in Interview With The Vampire. The rule doesn't apply to Natalie Portman though, as I fancied her when I first saw Leon! Before you think I'm a nonce, I was only 12! |

I used to love this show but lost interest around the time of the first movie. Really would love to go through them from start to finish though. One day, one day... *wistful sigh* |
There was rumours of if the 2nd film did really well they were going to reboot the series, hopefully they won't because I don't think it will work as well or be as popular as it used to be, |

And yeah, now that you mention it I do remember that being the reason. |
When I watch them through for the 1st time from season 2 onwards i'll see why nobody seems to like 5-9 |

What a wonderful series though. I remember all those years ago, in 1992 I seem to recall, seeing an advert for a new series on BBC2 that I thought might be interesting. The series in question, of course, was none other than The X Files. I remember watching the pilot episode, being immediately impressed and wanting more. The remainder of the episodes from the first season cemented my impression that what I was watching was a wonderful series, although none of us at that stage could have imagined the global phenomenon that it would become. Good memories indeed. |

I love The X-Files. Esp the earlier seasons. The show did go a little daft towards the end! lol |
I hear everyone involved wants to make another X-Files movie, well, everyone except the studio. I want To Believe was pretty poor as an X-Files movie. Would've been more suited to Millennium. |

Ive never seen X Files 2 but yeah I heard it was more of a standard thriller rather then X Files like. Im glad they ended it when they did, rathen then doing a LAST OF THE SUMMER WINE and doing 31 seasons. I also heard that if the new X Files film did brilliant they were going to re boot the series and do a whole new lot |
I would love to pick up a full series release on blu-ray however as the effects were edited on tape they would need to do a star trek next gen job for which they probably can't see a return of their investment Until this happens I have the complete series dvd box set anyway. I also bought the lone gunmen spin off but haven't watched any episodes of this yet. For anyone that's seen it, did anderson or duchovny ever make any appearances in the spin off? |

I wasted most of my teen years watching The X-Files, possibly the best TV show I've seen... too many twists and turns in the end I think, went in too many directions and suffered for it. the big reveal at the end was a car crash as well now, who liked Millennium? |

the first X FILES film was excellent, esp as i was never really saw the series but the sequel was a dud, slow, just boring and you would of thought they could of come up with a better script after so long |
