Default Alejandro Jodorowsky

Anyone round here a fan of Jodorowsky? I think this guy is easily my fav director, holy mountain being my fav film of all time. The news of his new film King Shot going into production has got me sooooooo excited. Theres some rather cool storyboards from the film posted somewhere on twitchfilm.net, and it looks like it gonna be crazy good.

Only seen El Topo myself, couldn't quite work out what it was all about. Still it was an unusual film and quite bizarre.

Jodorowsky has directed less than 10 films in 50 years.

You gotta watch "The Holy Mountain" Reaps, unbelievable. Some of the imagery is simply astonishing, and if you thought "Santa Sangre" was weird, well my advice to you is to strap yourself in real tight and stick on "The Holy Mountain".

Then watch "El Topo".

in regards to the holy mountain, i really think anyone with an interest in film (i guess that includes everyone thats on these forums) should make time and effort to watch it. Yeah you more than likely wont have a clue whats going on but it won't matter, you'll see the most bizarre, insane, beautiful visuals ever put on film. Its the only film where i've literally had my jaw wide open in disbelief/amazement for almost its entirety.

I know reaps was joking about taking acid to watch this, but, even though its a pretty psychedelic ride (to say the least!), don't even think about watching this on acid, unless you want a really really really bad experience!

On a similar note (bizarre unfathomable films), I've just come back from watching Andrzej Żuławski's (he of 'The Possession' - the octopus alien lover one! - fame) 'On the Silver Globe', his unfinished (thanks to the communist polish government at the time) sci-fi epic, which sadly was a major disappointment. So if you ever get the chance/desire to watch it, do yourself a favor and decline, you'll save 3 hours of your life.

Santa Sangre is his most coherent film and certainly the easiest to get into. I got Anchor Bay's brilliant 6 disc Jodorowsky box set and it's worth every penny. Fando Y Lis is the weakest of the lot but is still intiguing and both El Topo and The Holy Mountain don't make a bit of sense but if you're into visuals then they're real eye candy. They're the kind of films to kick back to when you're in a lazy laid back kind of mood and mood is the key word because it's not casual viewing by any stretch of the imagination. If you're an adventurous film watcher and are a fan of 'film' then his work is a must have. If you want to be spoon fed every detail then it ain't for you.

Can't wait for "King Shot" to get off the storyboard. Supposedly it's gonna look a wee bit "Sin City", and with Jodo's imagination that can only be a good thing :
