2005 was a year for some decent horror films, but which one is your favourite? What makes it special to you? When did you first see it? Would you recommend it to the uninitiated?
Sometimes it's a hard decision to just pick one film (even when you're limiting it to a single year!), but my favourite film of 2005 is...
The Call of Cthulhu - Andrew Leman
The most faithful H. P. Lovecraft film adaptation ever made, Leman's
Cthulhu is a visual journey inside the infamous authors mind and work, bringing one of his most famous creations to life. Leman's film is completely shot in black and white, silent throughout (apart from the very fitting and well constructed score) with simple effects and cinematographic techniques employed to mirror the period when the famous work was written.
