I prefer the 139m cut simply because it is longer.

I remember watching Night of the Living Dead with my folks when it was shown on TV late a night, and my mother boasting about the sequel being better, so naturally that came next. Luckily my best mates cousin (well, his mum) had this: *Edit* It was actually the 4 front video release! Ha The image on the back haunted me and put me off watching it for about 3 days! Luckily I overcame my fear and braved it, the film haunted me for weeks afterwards but I couldn't stop watching it! My uncle made me a copy, as I had to give it back, and I had that trusty tape right the way through high school and would watch it every lunch break where I'd watch about 20 minutes of it a time while having my Gran's grub... Happy times. Last edited by Philleh; 18th September 2009 at 03:40 PM. |

Funnily enough Phill, that image had the same effect on me when I was a whippersnapper.I always used to lift it in the video shop, look at it and quickly put it back down!

Same here. It's just nice to have the extra footage available to watch even if it does slow the film down in some peoples eyes. Let's face it, A true Dawn fan should really own all three cuts of the movie imo. For those interested in Romero's social commentary on consumerism and materialism there's the extended edit. If gore is more your bag then Argento's European print does the job. But if you want just enough of both then the unrated theatrical version probably floats your boat. All three cuts are fine to me but each to their own. |

Always liked that image of the Scott H. Reininger zombie staring out at you. I don't find it spooky i just like this still for some reason i can't quite fathom! The zombies-charging-in-the-elevator still also remains a firm fave of mine. |

What do you all reckon is the goriest scene in the film? Screwdriver in the ear? Shopping/chopping mall massacre? Slum clearance at the start? One of the most disturbing scenes must be the zombie kids getting the bullet!

The impending sense of doom at the begining of the movie is alarming.

The Hell's Angels versus zombies sequence i think probably boasts the most graphic violence imo and whereas some of Tom Savini's FX work has dated badly over the years there's still some scenes which hold up well today. Flyboy's brain-busting squib effect being one of them and possibly an influence on Fulci's ZFE when Al Cliver shoots a deadster in the head and the red stuff sprays the wall in the background. |

Yep.It's a non-stop gorefest from start to finish.
