I haven't seen many of Lars Von Trier's films
I saw about an hour of some crap on tv, forgotten name of film which was filmed on soundstage/warehouse and actors pretending to knock on doors that are not there etc
weird and rubbish - Nicole Kidman is in it.....D something?
Anyway ANTICHRIST is a brilliant film and even my girlfriend liked it and she's not one for arty films with gory violence
He's a 'marmite' director

Dogville! I think that's actually one of his best films to be honest.

i always prefered his The Kingdom to the stephen king thing, but LVT is very marmite (what an odd world, where marmite is now a verb)

I made it through maybe 45 minutes of this film

My thoughts??

I do feel rather sorry for director Lars Von Trier with this attempt at film making. It's obvious that the cameraman he hired had never used a film camera before and kept forgetting to use the focus control. Not only that, the cameraman could not frame an image to save his life. He also forgot to take his treatment for St Vitus Dance with him whilst on location. So all what was filmed was a disaster.

The production problems carried on in post too. The editor he hired to edit the film had obviously never used an edit system before either. Not only that, but Von Trier made the mistake of giving the editor the reels of film containing all the out takes swept up from the cutting room floor

Then, to add insult to injury, he forgot to preview the film before it went out as a final product.

Total rubbish

If anyone sees Von Trier in real life remember to shout and point SHAME....SHAME!!!! at the top of your voice.

No - I am not a fan of this film!!!!!!

each to their own and that, but he does know what he's doing (see Dancer, the Kingdom etc)

Watched antichrist with a friend. I LOVED it, he HATED it.

I use capitals here to emphasise extreme viewpoints, both of us have been watching von triers work for years and are fans, though it must be pointed out i'm the bigger fan. (not a boast, even my pal himself would admit it.)

Antichrist is a tough film to sit through, and not at all rewarding for people looking for a straight ahead horror movie. Give the film a chance, open your mind (and make sure to watch it on blu-ray) and the film is actually hugely rewarding. Still not sure what it all means (is it myogynistic, trolling for controversy, or a skillful dissection of feminist issues and self loathing?)
But its given me plenty to think about.
