I used to cover my eyes during this scene when watching both cinema and subsequent TV screenings for many years until i accustomed myself to it!

The jail cell jolt works better imo but the above sequence still shivers the spine make no mistake.

The 'Hospital bed-in-the-forest' dream sequence in
An American Werewolf In London, Cheryl getting all 'possessive' for the first time in
The Evil Dead and the 'Little boy-in-the-hallway' scene in Mario Bava's
Shock. All these jump 'n' jolt moments work brilliantly too imo.
