Used to find this film a little boring but over the years it's grown on me. It's really a David Hess showcase and he is great in it. The score is juxtaposed really effectively and it's interesting to see Giovanni Lombardo Radice playing the easily lead simpleton. I don't think it really deserves the rep it has, not to these jaded eyes anyway. The "it was a set-up all along" ending has to go down as one of the daftest ever.
