I don't like the fourth film. Boring villain, the stakes are preposterous, McClane is more athletic than he is in the first film (despite his advancing years), and the action is so overblown that all suspense is removed. I know action films have to go over the top but you're meant to build up to the lunacy - not begin the film with it. Also, the film is either blue-grey or burnt orange.
The fifth film is one of the worst films to ever get a cinema release. Nothing in the film is good. Even the sound effects are off-putting and odd.
I usually play
Max Payne 3 and pretend it's the real Die Hard 4. Just omit / change a few things and Max Payne is how you would expect McClane to turn out based on
Die Hard with a Vengeance.
