I'm no authority on James Bond and, with the exception of Dr No, Goldeneye, On Her Majesty's Secret Service hadn't seen any films multiple times until Daniel Craig was cast as 007 and I was blown away by Casino Royale. I thought Quantum of Solace was a real letdown, but thought Skyfall and Spectre were excellent. I am very much looking forward to the new one, which will hopefully be a fitting end to a series of films starring someone who I consider to be the finest bond since Connery and perhaps even better. I guess it depends what you want from a James Bond film and whether you like the Roger Moore quipping which was not too dissimilar to the 'zingers' which came to be a staple of action movies, such as those starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis, in the 1980s and '90s, or the more down-to-earth espionage approach which was possibly a response to the success of the Bourne franchise. Personally, I like the latter, with the opening scene to casino real as a particularly brutal highlight. My image of the world's greatest secret agent is not one who walks on alligators while wearing a safari suit! |

Also it was a scene from one of the very best Bond films - Live and Let Die which was a film with minimal humour. |
I really like Live and Let Die. I think that's another 'backs against the wall' Eon film. Great alligator stunt btw, the dvd/blu-ray out-takes show just how dangerous it really was. |

Bond is not just a film franchise, but an entire industry, in which millions of dollars can be made by switching the main alcoholic beverage from Martini to Heineken, and those sort of factors play into the decision of who to cast in the main role. |

The thing that confuses me about the Daniel Craig films is that Bond is supposed to be a guy every woman want's to shag, i don't find him attractive at all, but then i'm a guy. ;) Maybe he's got something i'm missing but i think he's butt ugly. But being a heterosexual kinda guy i wouldn't shag any of them. Ok maybe Timothy Dalton at a push. |
