Danny Boyle has been confirmed as the next film's director. He's doing a script with Trainspotting writer John Hodge. Let's hope it's better than the last few films. In my opinion Casino Royale was the last great Bond film. Danny Boyle to direct next Bond film - BBC News |
Lost interest in Bond films years a go. There's nothing that differentiates them now from all the other generic action films that get made. Prefer the Connery and Moore eras. Much more fun. ;) |
It seems I'm in the minority who liked the Sam Mendes Bond films and hoped he would stay on to direct the (likely) last one with Daniel Craig. If he was not going to do the next film, I thought the idea of Denis Villeneuve was very exciting because I loved Arrival, Blade Runner 2049 and thought Sicario would be a perfect template for any Bond movie. That said, Danny Boyle could be an inspired choice because he's worked in different genres and has a real flair for visual storytelling, can create exciting action set pieces, tangible atmosphere and tension, and elicit fine performances from actors, such as James Franco in 127 Hours. Also, as he showed with Slumdog Millionaire, he can handle a big cast and lots of location shooting. Colour me enthused. |

Clive Owen would've made the perfect Bond after Brosnan. Great shame he didn't actively show any interest in the role. Never saw the attraction of Craig. Dalton had charisma and a sense of charm with that underlying coolness that Bond truly resonates in Ian Fleming's original concept of James Bond. Licence to Kill was probably one of the best of the 1980's Bond films. Loved every minute of the film, plus Michael Kamen's film score. Goldeneye was certainly the best of Brosnan. Though I don't mind Tomorrow Never Dies, probably the second best Brosnan/Bond film with Arnold's best Bond film score. I've not really warmed to Daniel Craig at all. I even struggled with Casino Royale, though the editing in that film is superb. The less said about the main protagonist the better. Craig isn't Bond. |
