I think their reasoning behind special packaging for this release is that it's a well-loved film and they wanted to do something cool for it. At the moment I don't think they have any future plans for titles to have a similar treatment - at the moment they're just going to see what the response is to this one.

Fair enough and a good point made. I'd never heard of Almost Human so I'm looking forward to seeing this, along with the other future Shameless releases. I refuse to buy any though because I'm like a tub of Pringles, once I pop I just can't stop and I really don't have the funds to get the entire set. Anyway.... :focus:

All together now:

What do you want? Tits and booty
When do you want it? Right now
Who's the best actor of all time? Tomas Milian

Yeah that was my first reaction - but now I think that the lenticular sleeve is kind of a fun idea - which means I suppose that I have the correctly deranged sense of humour for more films from Shameless!

See my avatar for what I'd love to be the reverse artwork.

You really do have to hand it to Shameless on the innovative marketing of their dvds.

I always thought the original Shameless distinctive yellow boxes, spinebuilder and so on, were a very clever piece of marketing. Then we have the yellow Blu-ray cases and now this!

Kudos to the Shameless team for doing something totally unexpected and off the wall with this one. Never having seen the film before, I'm really looking forward to picking this one up, wibbly wobbly cover and all. Brilliant

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 13th April 2011 05:33 PM

I couldn't have put it better myself -- I love the Shameless spine builder set, the Bronx Warriors tin, the new artwork on Fulci's Box of Terror and now this lenticular card cover. There'll always be something distinctive for people to consider buying in HMV and other high street stores.

Amertume 13th April 2011 07:30 PM

I sadly have to admit, I don't like the cover...
Especially considering how many awesome artworks that most likely won't make it now!

Sure, it's a fun cover but... oh well. :)

I like the first one but I cannot put into words how much I utterly despise that idiotic, Marty Feldman-look-a-like abomination of a cover, I really, really hate it.

Anyway! More artwork, surely for the love of all that is good and wonderful in the universe, one of these will be chosen over Marty :

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 13th April 2011 09:19 PM

I don't know if I like the alternate title particularly as it reminds me of Olaf, the Russian singer in Clerks:

ha ha im a bit late but I love that art!!
look forward to this release. I not heard of this movie before either.

bgart13 14th April 2011 09:58 AM

Surely this is a joke, right?

Splatterdragon73 16th April 2011 11:50 AM

No complaints from yours truly regarding AH's lenticular cover and just the sort of jaw-dropping image one would expect to find adorning a pre-V.R.A. VHS release.

Salacious and sadistic in equal measure is fine by me and please feel free to pour on the scorn and ridicule.

thanks for posting all of the artwork - the proposed Shameless one is bit less WTF now!

Bobz 22nd April 2011 02:04 PM

Nudity.

Blood.

Perverse shenanigans.

Lenticular madness.

Thats just... Shameless.

Well doesn't this just epitomise the Shameless label? This gets 2 thumbs up from me ;)

I'm another person who hadn't heard of this movie until now. Thanks for bringing it to our attention with such an eye-catching cover.

I think my "to buy" list won't fit on my hard drive soon

I think just about anything would beat that cover.

:pound: :pound: Yeah it sure is an terrible cover that one!

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 22nd April 2011 04:00 PM

It is horrible artwork, but it doesn't help that the cover appears to have been rescued from a paper shredder!

Sneaky bit of gossip from my spies at Shameless exclusive for you guys at Cult Labs.

Almost Human will have not one, not two, but three artwork options!

Panel A you have already seen: the lenticular art card which can either slip under the plastic cover on the DVD box or be removed to stand alone.

Underneath you will find a regular paper sleeve with Panel B on one side and Panel C on the other.

Unfortunately, I am just being a big ol' tease because I can't show you B or C for a while yet, but at least you know what to expect!

;)

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 31st May 2011 12:49 PM

A reversible sleeve? Excellent. I look forward to seeing panels B and C when the grand unveiling ceremony (or ceremonies) commence!

I'm really, really looking forward to see the final package! ;) heheh :pop2:

Sarah@Cult Labs 5th July 2011 08:18 AM

As promised, here is Panel B! This will sit under the lenticular card design. Of course, if you don't nab one of the first 1,000 units, this will be your Panel A.

I personally love this artwork - what do you think?

Panel C should be revealed tomorrow...

Good choice! The pedant in me can't help but notice the writing/decals on the Police car doors are backwards, but I guess I'm the only one who would have spotted that anyway. :loco:

Can't wait to see the next panel. :coolblue:

Splatterdragon73 5th July 2011 09:33 AM

Panel B is fine with me and here's hoping the third design will be just as worthy!:)

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 5th July 2011 10:16 AM

I have a feeling this is going to be one of those releases where you'll want to display about three pieces of artwork at the same time. The only solution will be to buy several copies!

You may well be right and while i'm perfectly prepared to buy two copies of AH even yours truly wouldn't spend a third time on such an admittedly delectable looking and desirable title!

It's very rare i buy three copies of a certain release.:)
