Does anyone know if Arrow is going to make a statement today?

The statement may have taken a bit longer than some of you wanted, but Arrow were keen to ensure no stone was left unturned which led to communications with various people all around Europe. Their statement is as follows:

Quote:
We are taking this very seriously. The benefit of having PR time with check discs prior to release is it allows us to correct things where possible. They are only check discs that reviewers receive and do not always reflect the final product.

The restoration and colour grading for THE BEYOND took place in Italy by the owner of the film, we then received the HD Master in the UK where we felt that the restoration was not good enough so had additional work on the film carried out using an HD Archangel to fix and stabilise motion, weave, picture flicker, overscan and interpolation as well as MTI technology to remove marks and picture defects. Colour grading was completed in Italy and was not tampered with here, we are investigating the colour of the film from negative to master to disc and hope to have more information soon. Once we have more information we can discuss this with the technical team and ensure the right colour is properly presented on this Arrow Video edition.

Once we have further information we will happily communicate every step of the way what is happening and we hope that our customers will keep their confidence in us to deliver the best product possible come release day.

Fantastic news - and shows Arrow have total respect for their ever growing fan base. If this takes a while longer to release, and then is the definitive edition anywhere, it will be more than worth the wait.

Thankyou for the update.

Very glad Arrow finally came through with an answer and as expected, it was something that wasn't their doing.

It doesn't make any sense that they would intentionally botch up this release. And as for me "getting off my knees", before anyone around here or anywhere for that matter is so quick to jump down on a company like this just remember; they are one of the only companies in this business giving films like this the presentations they deserve and in some cases more than they deserve. Jumping down their throat and crying blasphemy is just a little steep in my opinion, especially for the only company giving us this classic and others like it on Blu.

I'm all for giving anyone the benefit of the doubt in situations like this. Can't understand why some people aren't as keen to as well. To each their own I suppose.

Thanks for the heads up, Junyab, but we should note that your quote came from Alex K who posts on AV Maniacs forum, and the scan also came from Mike T who also posts there.

In that respects then, the whole zombie sequence at the end should have been edited out since that was never planned for the film.

That's true, but if you would read further you would see that the dp was quoted as saying that the yellowish tone was what was intended.

Many thanks for an update from Arrow...hopefully they can have this fixed, but if it's not possible, many will be disappointed but it wouldn't stop me from buying it.

It`s great they will try to fix the overly bright colours and use the original sepia colour.

I get the impression that they'll fix the sepia, but will they deal with the contrast as well?
