The Beyond – The Official Returns Policy

OFFICIAL RETURNS POLICY FOR ARROW VIDEO’S THE BEYOND BLU-RAY and DVD

Okay folks, when your copy of The Beyond (Blu-ray or DVD) arrives, check it to see if it has the monochrome opening. If it does and you want a replacement all you need to do is drop an e-mail to: info@arrowfilms.co.uk but go through the checklist below to make sure you send the right information:

1. Attach a scan or a good quality photo of your shipping slip or store receipt. If your e-tailer doesn’t send paper-based shipping slips please forward the shipping e-mail you receive (please note this is only for e-tailers that don’t issue paper slips).
2. Include in the e-mail your full title, name and postal address with post/zip code.
3. Please also confirm in your e-mail the retailer name where the disc was purchased from.
4. Send to info@arrowfilms.co.uk
5. Please allow up to 21 days for processing – where possible Arrow will ship as soon as they can.

Once that is done, please be patient whilst Arrow process and arrange a replacement disc. Please use the checklist before you e-mail Arrow Video to make sure you have provided all the necessary information so that your replacement disc order can be speedily expedited.

This is the same policy for DVDs and Blu-ray Discs and for Arrow Video costumers from all around the world, not just in the UK.

Arrow Video would like to thank customers for their patience and hope that the final discs will bring The Beyond to life like never before.

Cheers! I'll pass this info on.

saltysam 10th March 2011 02:35 PM

i have two copies on the way from Play-so i'll need to scan both receipts then?will this suffice as proof i've purchased two copies?

BAKA 10th March 2011 03:03 PM

I'm hoping mine arrives tomorrow. HMV don't supply a paper receipt, so it's nice you'll accept a forwarded shipping e-mail.

If they have different order numbers then that should be fine.

Stige 10th March 2011 03:51 PM

ok couldn't wait , ordered it from play

the opening of the disc should be a sepia tone right?( not black and white)

Does this apply to Norway as well?

Yes, it should be a sepia tone and not monochrome. The returns policy is worldwide, so Norway is covered.

Sounds a bit like almost everyone expects to receive the wrong version. I guess I will just stay cool and wait until I hold the actual item in my hand. Because, there might be a chance that there are a few correct discs around. ;)

tollickd 10th March 2011 08:48 PM

I can't wait!, can someone else that has a play.com pre order please update us when you get it as mine won't be here for 2 weeks :(

As a collector I do want a wrong copy.

At first, I didn't really see the point of owning a 'faulty' copy, but now I'm warming to the idea!

tollickd 11th March 2011 10:17 AM

Same here!

Nemesis 11th March 2011 11:09 AM

Well, one way of looking at it is that it gives the chance to see the Beyond in all colour schemes for completists; also it is indirectly the first test case to see the PQ difference between a 25 GB disc and a 50 GB disc.

darthelvis 11th March 2011 11:16 AM

Mine has shipped from Play! Awesome, can't wait to watch this in Hi-Def!

All we need now is Zombie Flesh Eaters!

BAKA 11th March 2011 12:19 PM

Looks like I'm going to need to e-mail them, just got mine and the opening is monochrome. Doesn't look like I'll be watching The Beyond this weekend after all. :(

wayfarer 11th March 2011 01:07 PM

Thanks for the info! Will comply if I receive a "faulty" disc.

MJC123 11th March 2011 05:10 PM

The way this has been handled is tremendous.
A true credit to Arrow and those that have communicated updates to us.
I look forward to watching a definitive edition of The Beyond very soon.

vinncent 11th March 2011 06:13 PM

My understanding is that ALL the release discs are the larger size, it was just the review discs that were 25gb.

skankenstoned 11th March 2011 06:57 PM

I'll be ordering mine and Psycho Butcher's copies next week along with Phenomena and the last 3 of the first Shameless 20 I need, here's to Arrow once again for all efforts to please the fans!

Arrow didn´t say that.

This is good for a question...

Like I said, I´m a collector and I do want this B/W version of the film.
I have mine pre-ordered at Amazon but this will only ship late next week because it´s a joint order with Island of Death. There´s a large change that I get the B/W version but what about if I get the correct version?

If I get the correct version can Arrow supply a copy of the B/W version?
I will gladly show my proof of purchase and pay for the postage.

What´s the veredict Arrow?
C´mon, help not only the fans but the collectors also. :)

The Limey 11th March 2011 10:20 PM

I watched my copy of The Beyond today. It is the B+W disc and I have emailed Arrow to request a replacement.

wtfFILM 12th March 2011 01:17 AM

Updated my review at Wtf-Film with the latest info and a link to this topic - so far it all sounds good to me.

Kindest regards,

Kevin P.

Can you show me where Arrow said that the incorrect release disc was 25gb?

saltysam 12th March 2011 10:08 AM

popped the two copies i received into the PC,it's the b&w version. disc size is 22.6GB.

That's an interesting question. If you could send me a PM or e-mail (David@Cult-labs.com) when your disc arrives and still want it swapping, I'll ask Arrow.

Thanks for the quick reply.

When I get the disc I´ll send you am e-mail.
Maybe I didn´t explain in a proprer way (sorry but english is not my main language) but you mentioned the word "swapping". If I get the correct version I don´t want to swap for the B/W. What I want is to get the incorrect disc so that I, as a collector, can have two versions of the film.

Thanks once again.

saltysam 12th March 2011 02:33 PM

followed the procedure, scanned my two receipts so hopefully it won't be long till the replacements arrive.have the corrected discs been pressed?

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 12th March 2011 02:44 PM

As the official statement said, it should take 21 days or less for the receipts to be processed and a replacement disc sent out. I don't have any information on whether the new discs have been pressed yet or not but, if you are still waiting in three weeks time, please send me a PM or e-mail (David@cult-labs.com).

Now, I'm further confused. Does this make three versions?

The review copy was B&W @ 7.7GB
The initial copies are B&W @ 22.6GB
The replacement copies are fixed @ ? GB (50GB or 25GB disc?)

The review copies had the feature only at 7.7 GB, the full disc size includes all the extras.

Ah, right. That makes sense.

mercury 13th March 2011 02:38 PM

I may have missed this but: I can't find anything about returning the B&W disc. Only about replacement being sent. Does this mean people will get to keep the faulty disc, or will arrow reply to your email with postage instructions:confused:

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 13th March 2011 03:08 PM

There is no need for you to return the disc. If you send a scan or forward the shipping confirmation e-mail to info@arrowfilms.com, a replacement disc will be sent to you. Please see the official announcement on the first page of this thread for more details.

It is difficult to be totally objective on this when you already know that the copy you are about to view has been crammed into a smaller than usual encode and is going to be replaced by a better encode on a larger disc.
That said I still found the detail to be soft and blurry at times and does not look terribly impressive. Sure it beats the hell out of previous DVD versions but does not quite meet the quality that most would expect visually from a Hi Def disc. Instead it sits somewhere between that of a DVD and a BD.

With a stronger video bitrate on the way then hopefully this issue will be put to bed.

robertzombie 13th March 2011 08:36 PM

Not sure if this has already been answered but how will people that don't read this forum be notified about the defective disc problem?
