Default Island of Death – The Technical Debate

Please only use this thread to discuss the technical aspects of the DVD: the picture quality and the soundtrack. If you want to talk about the film or the artwork, there are separate threads for those.

Can we talk about whether the film is uncut or not? I'm curious.

This probably isn't the best place for that as this thread is designed to talk about the AV quality, but I have created a new thread in which you can talk about the BBFC's decision.

Watched Island of Death for the first time in around twenty years last night. The picture quality was superb, perfectly showing off the sparkling blues and contrasting whites of the Greek island.

A brilliant achievement on Arrows part.

Watched this fantastic movie again the other night - for some reason I have a soft spot for the absolute chaos on screen. Just interested as to why the aspect ratio is 4:3. During the Q&A with the director I'm sure I heard brief reference being made to this not being the orginal ratio.

To be clear, though, In no way does this detract from the presentation - it is a great looking print all things considered and the best available.

The aspect ratio is a source of some debate, but the intended aspect ratio was 1.33:1 and I can't imagine it would look any better in widescreen.
