A Note on Limited Editions

Just had this from Arrow:

Quote:

Limited Edition Slipbox releases will be limited to 2000 copies.

We’ve crunched the numbers from past sales, future pre-orders, comments from the forum, Facebook and Twitter and are happy with this conclusion. Special cases like SteelBooks and special limited editions (like Battle Royale) will not affect manufacture quantities of the Limited Editions.

From August onwards releases will be announced with both the Limited and the Unlimited Editions available at the same time. Where possible Unlimited Editions will be Dual Format DVD and Blu-ray.
Hopefully this should clear up some questions some of you had with regard to amounts of limited edition Arrow Video titles that would be made available.

:)

nekromantik 5th March 2012 01:40 PM

So the non slip box versions will have no posters, reversible sleeves etc?
Will they both be priced the same?

LoBo 5th March 2012 01:41 PM

Good to know.

Culture Vulture 5th March 2012 02:08 PM

Which Ltd Eds are no longer available or about to go OOP, so I can prioritise?

Good point; there are still a few I need as well, mainly the very earliest releases such as Caligula.

Hawkmonger 5th March 2012 03:00 PM

I think old Caligua is going to be the first to go.
Sadly, because of this transison in a year or two it's going to be near impossible for me to get my hands on these limited edititions.
Unless someone is willing to purchase one or two for me and hold onto them until i can pay them back and am aloud to keep them in the damn house!
Damn. I'm dessperate by now.

Baseball Fury 5th March 2012 03:35 PM

Why not just get them delivered to a mates house?

PaulD 5th March 2012 03:38 PM

Yikes, that really is limited! Will have to ensure I pre-order the ones I want in future.

Hammer time 5th March 2012 03:51 PM

good idea if cheaper,if i want something i pre order it.

bigandya 5th March 2012 05:01 PM

Brilliant! Just what I suggested. Can I advance order 2000 of each please? Now where's my ebay password... :tongue1:

Stephen@Cult Labs 5th March 2012 05:15 PM

Dual format? Separate dvd and BD's, or in the same package?

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 5th March 2012 05:18 PM

With this on it for you mate!

Previously attempted. Status of parents still hasn't been quenched.

fuzzymctiger 5th March 2012 08:53 PM

Damn you Arrow! Damn you to hell!! Now I'm going to buy titles I only remotely want because I'm going to be scared of missing out. Then I'm going to start obsessively buying old titles! Damn you! I don't have enough money for this! WAAAAAHH!

It's a fair point though - I know Arrow sometimes see things on here but if not I hope one of the mods is able to relay back just how much of a poor idea if would be to spoil the slipcase and cover with one of these banners. An eye-catching sticker on the packaging would be more than sufficient

BAKA 6th March 2012 04:19 PM

It's kind of hard to gauge this news without knowing how much they'd typically print for previous Arrow releases.

I'd agree if they're going with Double Play/ Dual Format banners, that a sticker on the cellophane is the best way to go, ala Eureka's Masters of Cinema line.

Whats the difference between the normal and limited

Limited = what we have had in the past, slipcover, posters, booklets etc
Normal = just the bluray in an amaray case with a reverse cover

Hawkmonger 6th March 2012 05:35 PM

I could have sworn that the Booklet was going to stay in the Unlimited release.

PaulD 6th March 2012 06:36 PM

My mistake, they do come with the booklet.

Bringer Of Funerals 6th March 2012 08:06 PM

Whats made them go to limited

Culture Vulture 7th March 2012 10:37 AM

Can someone provide a list of all available Ltd Eds so that we can prioritise our purchases?

I would assume the rising cost of including all these extras against sales volume. I guess the margin just ain't worth the risk. I'd expect actual/expected low sales of a few titles (at a guess, Vamp, Obsession, Forbidden Zone) against the (again, presumptive) high sales of a few (Dawn, Day, Wild Geese, Battle Royale) make it a very wise business decision.

And we all know limited edition things sell more!

Fair play to them, I say.

Playzocker 7th March 2012 11:21 AM

Interesting idea. ;)

But please always post on here whenever quantities of one of the limited releases go low so that everyone who really wants the title can still get it.

I totally agree. This is nervewracking stuff!

PaulD 7th March 2012 10:05 PM

There'll probably be an official note on here at some point but Arrow posted on Facebook earlier that the first run of Arrow Videos to go out-of-print, along with Caligula are, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead and (the rather more recent) Cat O' Nine Tails

Thanks for the tip off, Paul

Culture Vulture 8th March 2012 05:03 PM

Actually, do you mean completely out of print or just without a slipcase? Will they be replaced by the Arrowdrome versions?

Hawkmonger 8th March 2012 06:09 PM

Arrow Unlimited will simply be any Arrow Blu-Ray minus the Slipcase, Poster, and any other physical extras such as Art Cards.
I'm still unsure where this leaves the Comics, as they must have been rather expensive to invest in. Here's hoping for a TPB. Go on Arrow, you know you want to!

Probably the cause of WHO DARES WINS and THE WILD GEESE delay.
I suspect we may be getting the Amaray/double sided cover deal with these.

Which is fine with me....as long as the reverse is a wise decision!;)

Nah, it'll be 4 covers with a slipcase. Don't be so negative mate! However, I think they'll be missing a golden opportunity if they don't use this......

****!
That made me laugh! :pound:

Substitute the word opportunity there with shower and you're closer to the mark with that cover mate!

The bluray slipcase versions will be out-of-print and replaced by the Arrow Unlimited bluray editions.

Bringer Of Funerals 9th March 2012 01:37 PM

So its everything except posters and slip cases

dream demon 9th March 2012 07:51 PM

So, does this mean that The House By The Cemetery will be limited to 2000 copies?

I'd say so. Better get a copy while you can!

I have the Mosaic dvd of THE WILD GEESE and according to reports there are no new extrason the forthcoming Arrow, though originally it did say on this site 'and more...'
am I right?
Sticking with my Mosaic then and you see all four of the stars on cover!
