I'm really confused, as the limited will only have 2000 printed, will the demons 1&2 steelbook be more common? I really don't get it.

I believe the Demons steelbook will be Limited.

Exactly, I think Arrow have screwed up big time IMO.. these look better than the 'limited editions', which is totally the wrong way round lol

Limited editions should always be better than the unlimited.

thatgothguy 20th March 2012 10:43 PM

I just emailed arrow and apparently the steelbook will end up being rarer than the limited as more than 2000 will be printed. So not only has the unlimited got and extra disk, the version with the best case is now somewhere inbetween limited and unlimited which I suppose puts the limited at the bottom of the barrel?

Sarah@Cult Labs 22nd March 2012 09:48 AM

As some of you have had quite strong opinions on the Limited Blu-ray vs. Unlimited Dual Format debate, you may wish to check out this poll as Arrow are now wondering whether they should continue to release Limited versions at all. Please read the opening post (as well as others' comments) before casting your vote.

Do we know how many are being made?

stingersplash 15th April 2012 03:48 AM

well i cant vote now but the fact 80% agreed with me and want limited editions to stay and then arrow ignore it means im done with arrow blurays now - i only collected them for the slipcases and choices of artwork and extra things - releasing them as a double play in a standard case does nothing for me.

oh well it will save me money i guess - just the limited editions (as they say some will still come out like this) and steelbooks for me. unlimited versions just do nothing for me at all.

So your "done" with Arrow, but you'll still buy the 'Limited Editions' and 'Steelbooks' when they are released..

so your buying options have not changed really have they.. you said you only bought them for the slipcovers and artwork.. which is what you will still be doing..

yes but they wont be releasing many like that will they - it will only be a few a year maybe. and going forward some films might be released that i want on bluray and will be plain versions and id prefer limited ones of them.

i was just unhappy because so many wanted them to be kept yet they still ignored it - im sure they could sell 2000 of anything if they wanted to.

robertzombie 15th April 2012 01:26 PM

So if Arrow were to release a film on blu-ray that you wanted, but it didn't include a slipcase, you wouldn't buy it?

I'm all about the films. Provided they're presented well the packaging is surplus to my needs. The slipcases are nice and I'm glad I have those versions - but it's not everything to me. The film on the disc is what's important IMO. I'll even take crap artwork if the film is presented well and is one I want.

I quite agree, sometimes it seems some people on here seem more preoccupied with the packaging and the fact it's a limited edition than the movies themselves. As you say, as long as the movie is presented well and it's uncut, I'm more than happy.

Tell us something we don't know. Weirdo!

Personally I'd never deprive myself of a film I really wanted if the cover was a bit naff. Like I say, the film is what's of paramount importance to me. Some of the early ABUS DVD covers were truly awful, but the films on offer were so good I bought just about all of them. Glad I did too, the transfers were more-often-than-not exceptional, and I was overjoyed to have the films in my collection.

To place the importance of packaging above the film itself is just plain weird.

Weirdo!

no i still would i guess, it just wouldnt be a priority over a limited editon of another film.

ignore me im just in a mood about no more slipcase versions - outside of my steelbooks they are the nicest thing to look at in my bluray collection. just a shame its ending but if it means that we get steelbooks then thats cool i guess.

Ah, I suppose I can agree with you there.

I love the slipcases but its not make or break for me. I detest dual format though. I get a dvd I can play and usually a code locked blu -ray I can't. (if anyone knows a legit place I can get a decent priced region-free player that plays all blu ray regions please message me with info)

That's a little bit rude. You could've just said there's a thread on here somewhere and pointed him to the search function.

Wish I could say it helped but still don't know where to buy a modded one.

Baseball Fury 16th April 2012 06:32 AM

If you're in the UK, Multiregionmagic or Richer Sounds (the Toshiba BDX1200}.

If you're in the US, i'd suggest having a look over at blu-ray.com as it's got a huge US userbase who are multi-region. Check the UK releases section to find most of them.

Thanks. I'm in Canada. I'll check blu-ray.com and hope the bite isn't too big for the wallet.

I find myself preferring the r2 of many things actually Doctor Who, Arrow and Shameless, etc.
Right now my collection of DVDs and blu rays is a modest 700-800. Many of them box sets.( I love box sets and special editions)
But I am hoping this year I can really work on adding to my collection.

You should have stated that in the first place. I thought you were living in the UK! ;)

So how does this affect earlier releases? The Dawn Of The Dead blu i ordered from amazon yesterday for instance? Will that be a slipcase and poster job? Or a plain amaray box? And other blu's I'm planning to order soon such as some of the Argento's and The Funhouse? Sorry if I'm being thick, i get how this applies to new releases but not how it affects older ones.

So far, Amazon is listing Limited and Unlimited editions as they are.
Just look at the picture before you buy it.

Nimajneb 3rd May 2012 09:27 AM

Limited editions

Right let me just double check this...

Current blu ray releases are the white covers/white slip cases.

Coming soon they will be in either limited white cover/white slip cases/steelbooks
or
unlimited ugly gray cases

And will they do this with every releases, because i cant find a non grey Class of nuke em high. Which makes me sad coz i only have a crappy dvd version and would love to upgrade to a shiny new blu ray of it, but if its in a grey case... i might as well stick with my ugly copy instead of buying another ugly grey one. Of all the colours! F-ing grey!

J Harker 3rd May 2012 09:34 AM

I think it's just the sticker on the cellophane wrapper that's grey. The cases are clear. At least that's how i understand it.

BAKA 3rd May 2012 09:57 AM

Yes, clear, not grey. There's a picture on facebook.

Nimajneb 3rd May 2012 09:58 AM

Thanks :) though find it weird to change the color, not all gonna match now lol!

Go on eBay and buy some blue Blu-ray cases, they're cheap enough. Then just swap the cover and disc into the blue case.

Oh, and make sure you specify UK or US style cases in your search. Not all amary cases are the same. ;)

Nimajneb 3rd May 2012 11:45 AM

thanks :) Have no idea why i hadn't thought of this before, lol. But ill get on it.

Baseball Fury 3rd May 2012 01:12 PM

Off topic, can you get US style clear cases? I'd like to replace my MoC Soul Power blue case to match the rest of the range (which are DF and clear)
