Combat Shock - - Official Announcement

Combat Shock (Arrow Video)

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...DVDFront2D.jpg

FROM JUNGLE HELL TO URBAN HATE

‘Nam, a green jungle hell. A terrifying place of death, violence and bloody war where seeing your buddies die in front of you is a daily event and getting your seed corrupted by Agent Orange is an occupational hazard. Poor Ricky came home with a messed up head and scrambled DNA, now he has a mutated baby, a nagging wife and a grim collection of junkie friends to deal with. In the dilapidated tenements of Staten Island, life is harsh and sanity is transitory at best.

Combat Shock is Troma’s meanest, grittiest movie. A headfirst trip into the seedy urban trough where hookers, desperate junkies and slowly unravelling Vietnam vets crawl over each other just to survive as the movie jacks up the grime flecked horror on its journey to one of no budget cinema’s most shocking conclusions.

You’ve witnessed the Surf Nazis on the rampage, you’ve laughed at the kids of the Class of Nuke ‘Em High... Now take a trip into Troma’s dark heart in COMBAT SHOCK.

Yeeees I wanted that !!!

gag 27th April 2012 10:33 AM

Fantastic news havent got this film yet but seen it years ago and thought it was a fantastic film ....

buggenhagen 27th April 2012 10:39 AM

Nice to see this get a UK release, it's a cracking wee movie. I've already got the US edition so won't be picking it up but I'd certainly recommend it to anyone that hasn't seen it.

Demoncrat 27th April 2012 11:13 AM

That's more like it, don't see point in releasing any other Troma films myself though......

Susan Foreman 27th April 2012 11:15 AM

This is supposed to be quite a nasty film!

Vampix 27th April 2012 11:19 AM

I've always wanted to see Combat Shock, I'll definitely be picking up Arrow's edition.

Demoncrat 27th April 2012 11:24 AM

Grim rather than nasty, think Don't Go In The House in place of Taxi Driver in tone imo. Can't wait!!!

Hawkmonger 27th April 2012 04:12 PM

Must buy. What's the BBFC's stance on this?

Baseball Fury 27th April 2012 08:01 PM

This one is bloody depressing. Maybe I'll watch this then watch Apocalypse Now to cheer myself up. Grim, grim film.

Nagaman 27th April 2012 08:53 PM

Just been checking the specs. of this against my Troma 25th Anniversary Edition dvd and it's an exact match so this looks set to be a cracking release.
For anybody that hasn't seen the film or got the US release, then it will be well worth picking up the Arrow release, that's for sure. :)
I'll probably triple dip and buy the Arrow release too, just to keep the collection complete.

Did Kyle not mention the free happy pills ltd edition mate?
Prozacially remastered!

Pete 28th April 2012 10:50 AM

I've never seen it so I'll definitely be picking this new edition up.

Demoncrat 28th April 2012 03:20 PM

I can see it being a divisive film, after ALL these years a lot of people will just shrug and say "And?" but it still for me packs a punch....

I see your Apocalypse Now and raise you this then.................

Henry: POAS

VicDakin 28th April 2012 03:50 PM

Requiem For A Dream

it should be passed UNCUT
haven't seen anything yet on BBFC.............

Hawkmonger 28th April 2012 07:25 PM

The whole, defformed baby getting shot bad then put in the oven (why did he do that anyway? never understood why.) may still be of concern IMO.

Pete 28th April 2012 07:34 PM

Ssssh! I haven't seen it and you're giving stuff away!

Hawkmonger 28th April 2012 07:35 PM

Oh, sorry.
But to be fair, it is one of the most infamous scene's in movie history.
It shock's even me.

zane 28th April 2012 08:47 PM

The director does Crime Films ("Krimis") for the German TV now. Quite a carrer.

The ending of Elephant Man,go on you go watch that and see how bleedin cheerful you are then

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 29th April 2012 02:23 PM

I'd say 1984, Dead Ringers, and The Mist also have depressing endings, although none of them as depressing as Combat Shock, imo.

Sarah@Cult Labs 9th May 2012 07:49 AM

I've updated the original post with the confirmed front artwork which is:

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 9th May 2012 08:35 AM

Although the cover is a great deal more colourful than the film, it does have a fairly downbeat message, particularly the 'ordinary guy' with a soldier inside.

fuzzymctiger 9th May 2012 09:51 AM

That artwork alone makes me want to get it now.

darthelvis 9th May 2012 11:07 AM

Loving the new artwork! One of my favourite pieces of artwork from Arrow.

PaulD 9th May 2012 11:10 AM

Same here. This is shaping up to be a fantastic release!

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 9th May 2012 08:15 PM

I DO like that artwork!

In fact,I'm definetly getting this and going to give it a second go.
I don't think I sat all the way through it first time round!

I just need to visit my local self-employed chemist for some uppers first!

antmumford 9th May 2012 10:38 PM

This may be a stupid question but who created that phenomenal piece of artwork?

Graham Humphreys, arguably the greatest living horror poster and artwork designer.

Graham Humphreys - Graphic Designer

A ha, the infamous Graham Humphrey. What a legend!

Vampix 10th May 2012 12:07 PM

That's a far better cover than the US DVD edition; you can put me down for a copy.

slaghammer 10th May 2012 12:43 PM

This is one of the greasiest filsm ever made, remember ordering the Troma cut from America many moons ago. And getting stung by the vultures at the post office.

BioZombie 10th May 2012 12:53 PM

I am a huge fan of this film (easily the best in the Troma catalog). If you haven't seen it this should be number one on your DVD want list. Although as had been pointed out on this thread it is pretty depressing stuff, but awesome at the same time!!!!

Hawkmonger 10th May 2012 04:10 PM

That art work is B-E-A-UTIFUL! Lovely stuff, by and large one of my fave Arrow cover's thus far.
Day one purchase for me! Time to up my med's!

Pete 10th May 2012 06:53 PM

Superb artwork!

Nagaman 11th May 2012 10:10 AM

Awesome artwork! Think I'll sell on my Troma copy as I'm definitely gonna purchase this release. :)

Vampix 26th May 2012 11:38 AM

Does anyone know whether there's a good chance Combat Shock will pass through the BBFC, uncut? I haven't seen it before so am unaware of any potentially controversial scenes that may give it problems at Soho Square.
