GAME have a good sale on at the moment with new ish releases such as Shaun Whites Snowboarding £24.99 and TNA Impact £17.57 to name two.

GAME are also selling 'Disc Doctor' which claims to not only remove disc damage like scrapes etc, but realign your machines lazer from £15 up, depending on which model you go for.
Its also suitable for DVD's and BluRay as well.

GAMESTOP have a DVD and BluRay sale as well as a Games sale and Forbidden Planet have cut the price of all their games as well .

BTW, Forbidden Planet 'recondition' their pre owned games so they always are in excellent condition and have a 12 day return policy even if the games not faulty.

Me? I'm all about retro gaming, specifically DOS gaming. Favourite game ever is probably either Raven's Hexen or Monolith's cult favourite Blood (one for all horror fans). I'm currently working on a brand-spanking-new UK based online retro gaming magazine, the first issue of which should be appearing some time at the beginning of next year (I'll be sure to plug it here again when it materializes).

If anyone's interested, the two features I've contributed to issue one are a profile/review of Epic Megagames' classic Jill of the Jungle, and a feature on the wonderful program that is DOSBox.

I love the old DOS games and still have a bash now and again (on the Win 98 drive). The old arcade ones are a blast of nostalgia for me. Ditto for Duke Nukem 3D, Alone In The Dark, Wolfenstein (& Spear Of Destiny), Doom, X-Com etc.

Never played a game on DOS Vince, Dunc, though I loved the Atari Jag version of Wolfenstien 3D.(id software) That game imho is beter than id software's later FPS , the excellent DOOM. (Nazi's are more fun to shoot than aliens imo)

I always favoured the ' plug 'n' play that the consoles offer. I even use my PS3's web browser to come here as I dont have a PC.
My PC was was faulty so I give it to my mate who's now getting good use outta it.

The PC has some cracking games thats PC exclusive , but I find the ability to configure and run them over ny head, where as with my PS3 , 360 and PSP its just insert disc' and away I go.

The games you mention Vince , Wolfenstien , DOOM, Duke Nuke 'em etc, are all excellent games of which I have played the inferior console versions.

Another great PC game I played on the 3DO console, ( giving my age away here ) many years ago was Quarantine, kind alike Doom in a taxi meets GTA. Great fun.

Have you tried Syndicate or Cannon Fodder Vince., Dunc, ? Both fantastic games, Many an hour I wasted on those games , many moons ago . LOL

The PC was the first platform I ever played games on, and I grew up with it so never really found configuring stuff etc a problem.

Wolf 3D and Doom are both amazing games, and I've always been a huge fan of whatever id puts out. I personally prefer Doom though just because it was so mind blowing at the time. Wolf was cool but pretty limited (right-angled walls only, no height variation, no textured floors/ceilings etc). Doom is probably the most important game ever and is still fun today (lots of progress has been made with the engine after id released the source code back in the 90s). Everyone who liked Doom back in the day should check out ZDoom.

Duke Nukem 3D is another classic of epic proportions. Blood (which I mentioned) uses the same engine, but puts you in the boots of an undead gunslinger in the 1920s, complete with lashings of black humor and horror references. Everybody owes it to themselves to play this game at some point, it's a true lost classic.

Quarantine was an amazingly fun game that I played on my PC back in the day. Syndicate I never actually played as not really my sort of game, but Cannon Fodder is brilliant.
