My Dad loves the Flynn Robin Hood, he's old enough to remember it

I haven't seen the longer 'killer cut' version of the F13 remake so it's worth a go and Freddy v Jason was fun but could have been soooooooo much better!

Ditto on all counts. The Adventures of Robin Hood is a great adventure film which looks absolutely stunning in HD and, like Bruno, I also like Freddy vs Jason as long as you realise 'it is what it is' and don't expect a genre defining film!

I also don't like the Friday the 13th remake.

is zombie 2 same as zombie flesh eaters?

It is indeed :)

Sent from my HTC Wildfire using Tapatalk

I just cancelled my Straw Dogs pre order.
After seeing comparison shots vs US blu it looks horrid!!
The contrast boost is very annoying!

The film was called Zombie Flesh Eaters pretty much everywhere but, as Dawn of the Dead was released under the title Zombie in Italy, the distributors decided to cash in on Romero's movie by making this seem like a sequel, hence Zombi 2.

I know it's a longshot, but does Maniac Cop have a reversible cover? I doubt it. Synapse told me The Exterminator had one....and it didn't!

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 12th October 2011 10:38 PM

'Fraid not mate.....the one they've used is rather nice though....we'll get some original when Arrow release theirs...

My girlfriend bought some BD's yesterday (which shocked me!) from Tesco, she picked up Monsters. Inc, Tron: Legacy, Cars and A Bugs Life in the BOGOF deal. Stocking up on kiddies films for the little man whilst they're on offer! Trying to avoid the "let's watch the same DVD over and over again" syndrome :D

Tombsy666 13th October 2011 09:01 AM

I've had a few arrivals lately.

Night of the Creeps - As good as I remember it and the BD looks incredible. One of the very best HD transfers I've seen yet.

Children of the Corn - Managed to get the region-free BD from Starz before it went OOP. I have a soft spot for the film and the BD looks great. Well worth adding to the collection.

My Bloody Valentine - Had to have the original on BD and Lionsgate do a top rate job with the transfer. Even the added footage looks way better than it did on DVD.

The Fly - Cronenberg's film is a textbook example of how to do a remake. Forgotten just how good Goldblum is, shame we don't see him in films much these days. Cracking HD transfer that really breathes new life into the movie.

Face/Off - Discovered it was still the old BBFC cut version, which sucks. And the transfer on this BD seems a bit sub-par to me. It lacks that HD bite that sets it apart from DVD. I have a sneaky suspicion that it's more akin to an upscaled and uncompressed SD transfer rather than a true HD makeover. It seemed to lack detail and didn't seem as clean and sharp as an HD transfer should be.

The Green Mile - I'm a huge fan of Stephen King so it's no surprise I picked this up. Darabont directs with a sure hand and the cast are extremely good, even Hanks, whom I usually dislike. Terrfic HD transfer from Warners.

Mr Postman popped my BD of The Exorcist through the door this afternoon, haven't opened it yet but from what I've read, it's made a good transition to HD.
When I got my Blu Ray player I told the missus I would only buy the films I don't already own on DVD, so far that amounts to one, Hobo With A Shotgun ha ha.

How much did you pay for this and where from? I'm dying to order this but don't really want to get stung for a massive delivery charge

Nice haul!
I love the NOTC blu! Sony did a brill job on this disc.
I still need to get Fly and MBV original on blu even though I own both on DVD. however I only own the barebones fly disc.

I'm off to America in a couple of weeks, so if there's anything anyone's after let me know and I'll keep an eye out for it. No promises though, gonna be pretty busy while I'm there!

Baseball Fury 13th October 2011 04:31 PM

Just pre-ordered the Pearl Jam PJ20 blu from HMV.com, and when I was checking out I got offered The Thing for £4.99. Seemed rude to turn it down!

When my girlfriend finds out, I'm dead.

Region A locked, I'm afraid (all Criterion BDs are).

Although, it's getting a UK Blu release in December.

Yeah, sadly it is locked but the whole package is just brilliant. It's my second Criterion after Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas but the first I've watched. I'm sticking Fear in now, with a can of beer (sadly no hallucinogens).

Rik 13th October 2011 08:18 PM

I'll have to order the UK one then, damn region coding!

Same here. Region-coding is idiotic, but we're lumbered with it, unfortunately. I'll be going for the UK Blu of Videodrome and hope and pray it's on a par with the Criterion transfer.

nekromantik 14th October 2011 01:40 AM

we might end up with the R rated cut like the previous UK DVD.
glad I got my criterion blu :)
