Actually the company that distributed their titles, Njutafilms, is releasing those titles next year. And as they are Njutafilms releases the subtitles may not be burnt in :)

Njutafilms » 077 Bob Fleming: Vår man i Casablanca

Njutafilms » Daughter of the Jungle

In the past hour, I went to Play.com with the intention of not buying anything but, after looking through the first 20 odd pages of the Blu-ray sale, picked up The Departed, Final Destination (the first one) and Sexy Beast.

So much for self-control!

Slippery Jack 29th December 2011 11:33 AM

As a prize to myself for staying away from the play.com sale, I pre-ordered Melancholia from hmv  . . .

nekromantik 29th December 2011 12:34 PM

I loved Attack the Block, I normally dislike films like Hot Fuzz type comedy but I thought it was very well made and the difference is that in the end the "bad kids" kinda redeemed themselves if only just a bit. This got a huge reception in the US and I think its just UK people who found it annoying. So glad I saw it in the cinema!

Yeah, think that was handled just right, without any hint of schmaltz or cheese. Wish I'd seen it at the cinema (in a double-bill with The Troll Hunter ) . . .

Nah I was saying I didn't think it was cheesy! I thought it was handled just right. I'm in the PRO Attack the Block club (6th in my top 10 of the year) . . .

Hmmmmm, getting a little worried now that my Fright Night BD from screenarchives might have gotten lost in the post. Only 2 more days of deliveries left in 2011. Wonder what the chances are of it turning up before next year?

I've never used them, but it's possible the package has been caught in a backlog of been overlooked in the sorting office.

As mentioned in another thread, I've ordered Sexy Beast, The Departed and Final Destination from the Play.com sale.

Stephen@Cult Labs 29th December 2011 02:02 PM

Bloody post office should get xmas and new years day off, and that's all. No consideration for other people!

Stephen@Cult Labs 29th December 2011 02:08 PM

Pre-ordered Arrow's Frankenhooker from Amazon, but unless it gets shipped tomorrow, I doubt I'll see it before wednesday.

Haven't got mine either. Would be a worry if just one person was waiting. I think we're okay, it's just caught up in Christmas delays.

I've another Christmas present (Blu-ray) still to turn up from the states.

Don't think we should be panicing just yet.

Stephen@Cult Labs 29th December 2011 02:17 PM

Just can't understand how it taken 2 weeks longer than other people's!

Refused 29th December 2011 02:23 PM

Post from the US can be ridiculous sometimes. I've had items turn up any when from 3 working days to 5 weeks.

Stephen@Cult Labs 29th December 2011 03:02 PM

Pre-ordered these today. Lovely jubbly.

From what my brother said from his experience from working as a temp in the sorting office, those were the only days the Darlington branch was closed, with the Newcastle sorting office working 24/7 (I'm not sure about Christmas and New Year's Day).

There are no deliveries on public or bank holidays, but sorting offices work round-the-clock to ensure all the mail is available to be delivered when delivery staff return to work.

I'm sure none of this does anything to lessen your frustration about the undelivered disc, but that's how I understand Royal Mail works.

Highly reccomended on blu-ray (or even dvd) comes The guard directed by John michael Mcdonagh and starring brendan gleeson, Don cheedle, Mark strong and Liam cunningham.

Attachment 36273

An Irish Black comedy (which should be a reccomendation in itself) that stars the always excellent Gleeson as sergent gerry boyle an easy going policeman not adverse to dropping acid at acident scenes and taking a day off to hole up in a hotail with two hookers. Into town comes FBI agent wendell everett (don cheadle) on the trail of a group of international cocaine smugglers (mark strong and liam cunningham) as one might expect in the tradition of good buddy movies the pair dont get along at first but soon become friends as they get to know each other.

Despite the cliche of every traditional buddy movie, The guard is a dark and funny movie with a sharp and intelligent sense of humour. Gleeson is supurb as a small town cop whose jovial and seemingly simple nature masks an inteligent an honest copper whose one step ahead of everyone around him. The film has some excellent dialouge and a great soundtrack plus plenty of homages to westerns in its style and a really entertaining finale.

The blu-ray looks and sounds fantastic and comes with a commentary track, behhind the scenes featurette, outtakes, delted scenes and a short movie so plenty there in terms of extras.

I had a great deal of fun with this movie and highly reccomend it to anyoneone here!

The posts about Black Dynamite in the What films have you seen recently? thread reminded me how much I liked it when I rented it from Lovefilm, so I bought a copy for the princely sum of £2.99!

Slippery Jack 30th December 2011 09:38 AM

Attack the Block just turned up, along with the first issue of my Xmas Sight & Sound subscription (though no free gift Alice BD yet :()...
