I'm surprised they don't borrow code reds idea and print a ltd number. If they sell out do a re-print with a slightly altered cover or '2nd printing' slapped across it. That way the collectors are happy, the customers are happy and speculators have a harder time making money.

Nice spot!

Ah well, the 6-film set worked out cheaper for me and I got a whole bunch of other films as well.

Apart from Parents what are the other films in the set?

Fido and Sundown i think i spot

Well, what really pisses me off about this is that Sony and the BDA fought hard to kill HD DVD so that we'd all uptake Blu-ray over that format. Sony basically were the brains behind Blu-ray - now they don't even want to release films on the format? They killed the one format that probably would've delivered more catalogue product at an affordable price, then seek to also hinder the format they're supposedly backing? :loco:

That's a very good point, I hadn't thought of it like that. It's a really weird situation.

Finally managed to snag a 'Like New' copy of this on Blu from a UK seller for a decent price. My second favourite fantasy film. :)

Because sony prefers the idea of movies on demand, that way you have to pay every time you want to see the movie and it costs them far less to distribute. The truth is once people own a film, it gets harder to get them to spend more cash on the same product later down the line.

Lots of Doctor Who fans on here it seems...I used to be really scared when I watched it on tv as a child... :)

Nemesis 22nd September 2012 08:19 PM

Ordered:

Hammer House of Horror (Synapse)
Maniac Cop (Arrow)

SShaw 22nd September 2012 09:00 PM

Picked up Resident Evil: After Life. Came very close to buying the German Picnic at Hanging Rock Blu Ray book edition, but common sense prevailed (I have it already on the UK Blu Ray and at 30 Euro's - about 25 pounds - its a tad expensive). Was also sorely tempted by the limited special edition steel books of Boondock Saints (together with the excellent documentary Overnight) which at only 13 Euros looks like terrific value.

LoBo 22nd September 2012 11:54 PM

And now the film is sold out.

So why did they go to all that trouble and expense in developing Blu-ray if ultimately they want video-on-demand to be the next step? So they've developed a home entertainment system that they want to fail so that on-demand services can take over? That's a bit weird to say the least - designing a product you want to fail. Utter madness.

I'm betting that these TT titles will eventually find their to way other territories.

Stephen@Cult Labs 23rd September 2012 03:38 PM

Maybe some of them will. But most, which are still available, are showing the studios that there's not a great demand for them, and this is probably the only BD release they'll ever get. Hell, Night Of The Creeps hasn't even had a release outside the US yet, and Sony released that themselves! so I don't see them in any big hurry to bring out the TT tiltles after the 3 years is up.

Bdc, Doctor Who is like the tv equivalent of chicken soup for the soul. I have to admit though, I'm more of the classic persuasion than the newer one (still pretty good though).

SharonLynette 23rd September 2012 07:17 PM

I think I've been slacking recently, anyway this came, I think I must have ordered more stuff recently but have a bit of a mental block as I didn't even remember ordering this!

http://pic50.picturetrail.com/VOL431.../404025673.jpg

Poor photo as I was playing with a toy.

Ordered the following as I've just worked the last 7 days in a row, I deserve stuff!

Purple Rain [Blu-ray]
Scream 1-3 Box Set [Blu-ray]
Clerks: 15th Anniversary Special Edition [Blu-ray]
The Funhouse [Blu-ray]
Demons 1 and 2 - Limited Edition Steelbook

Stephen@Cult Labs 23rd September 2012 07:55 PM

Ok, just had a look at The Raid blu-ray and I'm a little confused. The uncut version is about 7 seconds longer than the UK theatrical version. Anyone know what's different? Both versions have the same music, the music created for the US release by Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park and Joseph Trapanese? Or the original music? I have no idea wtf is going on!

Agreed.

'Doctor Who' 1963-1989 is essential viewing.

'Doctor Who' 2005 - date is (with a few exceptions) a filler on a Saturday night

Totally agreed on both counts.

The showrunners just need to learn how to have fun again - they've got the right doctor, just not the right tone. I'm hoping the dynamic will change with Jenna, but I'm not holding my breath.

Moffat is very good with dialogue on this show - I'm just not sure he is with much else. I also don't think that it is wise for him to be doing double duty with Sherlock - that show seems to be getting the best of him.

I'm not sure either. I can't do it, but I'd need to have one screen playing one version and another playing the other to see where the minute differences take place and what they are.

keirarts 23rd September 2012 10:59 PM

Watched the US blu-ray of little shop of horrors, it looks awsome, I stuck with the b&w as while the colourised version looks good i'm a bit of a purist where these things are concerned. Tried the commentary track with the bloke from Mystery science theatre but its total rubbish.

Jinx_Barkman 24th September 2012 12:41 AM

I have something to confess...I'm an addict and I don't care. Ordered these today. I had to re-order Night Of Death because it was lost in the mail.:censored:

In my quest to break out of my normal viewing habits which has so far led me to Danny Dyer and the mundane world of cheap films from supermarkets, I thought I'd head East for a bit.

These two are great, about as far removed from Danny Dyer films as you can get!

I haven't lost my love of Dyer yet, I've still got 17 of his films on a shelf waiting to be watched and more to buy!

bdc 24th September 2012 09:36 AM

You'll definitely need a shower after watching those! ;)

How about some original posters to get you into the mood?

He's like a British Steven Seagal churning out 3 or 4 films a year. In his autobiography and on the extras for "The Basement", Dyer talks about this and how as a jobbing British actor in low budget films you have to take whatever is given to you, whenever it's offered, to pay the bills as the pay for the work isn't great.

bdc 24th September 2012 10:22 AM

Finally received this one from a Singapore web shop...
They seem to have forgotten to include it with my last order and had to mail them about it...

Fair enough I suppose, work is work, even if it's shit :)
