Some more additions to my growing library of Blu-ray....

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 10th October 2014 11:53 AM

I received a card from Royal Mail yesterday saying they had tried to deliver a parcel whilst I was out. I picked it up today and it contained this:

I have not seen The Mist. I could not resist Hard boiled with that slip cover for €1.

Have you seen the Feast films before Nordy?

The first two are brilliant - violent, gory, daft, exploitation. The third gets a bit lost towards the end unfortunately, however it's a great pick up.

I really enjoyed the first one; the second less so and thought the third was average at best, but I had fairly low expectations for it so wasn't too disappointed. If I remember correctly, that's the one involving a dwarf on a catapult, which was strangely both a highlight and lowlight!

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 10th October 2014 01:26 PM

Oh yeah, and the catapult elastic was comprised of bras, leaving most of the female cast topless, which was a novel and, though practical, slightly chauvinistic idea!

I didn't care for The Birdcage – the original, La Cage aux Folles, is much funnier even with some things undoubtedly lost in translation. If you like The Birdcage, you should check out the film on which it was based (which itself is based on a stage play).

I saw it at the cinema. I just recall the three of us roared with laughter.

Why is it that the only Arrow Video title I have purchased for months has to be the one that is apparently cut? :mmph:

Another one for my growing intervision collection. Surprisingly most of the releases so far have been special editions of some variety.

Jinx_Barkman 12th October 2014 12:59 AM

I'm not the biggest Spielberg admirer but I absolutely adore Duel and had to have it on Blu-Ray. Plus, I got it for a pretty good deal.

The day the Earth stood still is one of my all time favorite sci-fi flicks. That artwork is a little off but well worth the asking price!

Ordered it. It's a steal at that price. It's the title and the green and yellow colours that I don't like, the rest is fine.

keirarts 12th October 2014 04:13 PM

I don't mind the art, it's very 50's pop art in style and suits the release in my opinion.

Anyone else think the style of steelbook for The Day The Earth.... and Big etc looks really ugly.
