A clue would come in handy!!!!

Can you report on the picture quality of these films when you've had a watch please Demoncrat? :)

Dick Tracy Meets Gruesome (1947, John Rawlins) Starring Ralph Byrd and Boris Karloff. . As to the PQ, and this is based on a showing on a plasma tv, a smidge speckly at the very beginning, and is a tad soft in places, as with most 23rd Cent releases I'd say it's a port of the official(?) release but haven't seen that so can't really comment.....Film itself a total hoot, what with people rushing around, "homocide" (that's how they pronounce it!!), and the hero being fooled by someone turning off the lights :doh:at one point, will try and watch the 2nd Byrd film tonight!! ("Dick Tracy's Dilemma", also JR 1947!)

Followed this with Sherlock Holmes Faces Death (1943, Roy William Neil)

From the Optimum box set, the print was nice and clean looking (borrowed this from mate....prised from his cold dead hands more like cough...AAAnyhow....quite a creepy wee story really, based on The Musgrave Ritual, had the slightest whiff of Lovecraft at the beginning, but this dissipated into a more standard SH adventure, what with the sleuth pulling his usual:eek: stunts to achieve his aims. Ends with the most amazing speech since The Great Dictator!! Recommended.

Ended the night with Buried Alive (1990, Gerard Kikione)
Ostensibly based on an Edgar Allan Poe story but brought to you by Harry Allen Towers, this rather quaint:laugh: film has some "shock" sequences, a hackneyed plot, and Donald Pleasance in a wig. I loved it....but felt that Jess could have made more of the material at hand. P Mueller & Lina in the pivotal roles ahem and a bit more sleaze. Ho hum.

Edit: Oh Zavvi has it for £15.99 that's more reasonable.

Edit 2: Nevermind.... Zavvi's postage randomizer decided that this product has shipping cost of £7.99

Really don't get it, why on some products they have free shipping and on others it's got that crazy shipping cost!

Might be coming from US then.....

Ah brilliant, I love this film. I bought this release in Profondo Rosso from Luigi Cozzi himself :) I think it cost me 30 Euros but he signed it and it was a fun experience so I didn't mind too much.

I love that the German title for Escape from New York translates as 'Rattle Snake' :)

I've never even heard of Under the Scares... looks like a real cheese-fest!

I was thinking about doing that too, but it was only about £7 on Amazon pre-order at the time so I decided to go for it (along with Baby Love and Nightcomers). Unfortunately, due to it being under the £10 free postage threshold, Amazon withheld shipping it on the day of release and instead combined delivery with The Shout which was released this week.

Under The Scares is actually a documentary about making a low budget horror film and its pitfalls with lots of interviews with people in the business such as Romero,HG Lewis,Henenlotter and the perhaps lesser known Debbie Rochon,Suzi Lorraine and Tony Timpone to name a few.

Found it both interesting and entertaining

I'm surprised you didn't order it direct from Network.

I should really, it's just that because they don't have an option for a pre-order, I have to wait until release to buy and also with not knowing what the price will be beforehand I've usually already locked in a cheap pre-order at Amazon just in case. They do have good prices on their site though - much better than the majority of British self-distributing cult labels.

If you look at each product's page it says what the price will be. Usually £6.99 for dvd's and £9.23 or something like that for blu's.

Indeed it does! I may then have to cancel my Amazon orders and order from Network! Do they charge delivery on single units though? As with Amazon I can just order everything in one order at free delivery rate and they'll break it up into smaller orders as things get released (or in Network's case lately as all the release dates get pushed back... sadly).

Network charge delivery when parcels get to a certain weight.

You can usually order up to ten discs free of charge. I almost fell foul of their weight charge the first time i ordered in a Christmas sale due to multiple tv box sets. However you can check out and then place another order and that by-passes the charge. :)

In that case I'll definitely be ordering from them direct in future for individual releases (I've only bulk bought in sales from them before).
