A couple of charity shop finds....

trebor8273 12th November 2014 10:10 PM

Well finished dead snow and while it's not dreadful it's no classic. Had a few good moments and some good gore but really didn't like the CGI blood and the main charcaters left me a little cold really felt nothing for them one way or the other. 6/10

Delete or move please

i really rate River's Edge, a lot of the dialogue seems authentic and also the relationships. Love Dennis hopper in it and also one of the only films i don't mind Canoe Reeves being in.

I quite enjoyed Dead Snow not amazing, but enjoyable. I've had Ice Pirates for ages but only ever watched the first 1/2 hr.:pop2:
If you like nazi zombies, apart from shock waves it's pretty good.;)

I'd never heard of it before I came across it today but, from the description, it seems like the sort of thing I'd enjoy. I could be well off the mark but from the synopsis, it sounds a bit like a darker and more adult version of 'Stand by Me'.

nosferatu42 12th November 2014 10:55 PM

Erm not quite, its a lot darker i think, but yeah its all to do with how kids react to each other , and the world when dark stuff happens. Good film i think.:pop2:
Be interested to hear your opinion when you've seen it.

Do Poundland do refunds?

nosferatu42 12th November 2014 11:14 PM

I wanted to check out Hellgate just to see what i'd missed with the Arrow release. Knowing me i'll probably enjoy it.;)

Nordicdusk 12th November 2014 11:23 PM

It must be bad if Hellgate is not worth £1.

Miami Connection is an absolute hoot, I preordered it with the poster when it first came out.

Also, Hellgate is also a hoot, and I thought the Arrow blu was well worth the money. But yeah it is absolute garbage, but hilarious garbage with some fairly fun sets and effects.

Seen the trailers and thought that looks a must see. Not for the normal amazon prices however. This was less risk free because even if I hate it I can stick it back on Amazon at a healthy profit. Given the love on here for it I suspect it will be a keeper though.

I've been meaning to check that one out... I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts once you've watched it.

keirarts 13th November 2014 07:57 AM

I have seen found. Saw it at last years Grimmfest.

Really great little indie horror that has a very messed up climax. Well worth watching.

Wasn't sure where to post this, then thought that one of you might like to buy it...

As well as self storage locker companies! I half expect a locker to be opened up on Storage Hunters one day just ram packed with movie stuff.......Boooooooommmmm! :)

I'd love to see a picture of trebs collection I can only imagine how much space it takes up. He must live in an airplane hanger.

nosferatu42 13th November 2014 01:23 PM

I imagine it's like the warehouse in 'Raiders of the lost ark'. ;)

I remember hiring this out when it first appeared because it had Slayer in the soundtrack, I recall it being gritty and quite cold and realistic, with good performances. Been a long while since I saw it though now, cant even recall the whole plot?.:loco:

OH ... MY ...GOD! I need to live there. That is just amazing. At first I thought... 'what am I looking at'?... then the slideshow kicked in! some serious bucks spent here Linbro.

If you look at the slideshow, about halfway through, it looks like Predator in Argento's Deep Red.

I bought Pieces very cheap yesterday, a movie I've been wanting to see for a VERY long time. :)

Pieces is great fun, absolutely hilarious, albeit probably not intentionally. I don't think I'll ever get bored of it.

Nice! I want to download it so badly right now but I'll have to wait for the package to arrive! A couple of beer and this movie seems like a good evening.

Hope you enjoy it Plato. After a promising start it turned out to be a huge disappointment in my opinion.

I was worried it would not translate well to a film so i have stayed away from it to this point.

I'll be checking this one out, too. However, be warned that the UK version has been cut. Region 1 unrated is pretty cheap on Amazon.

Frankie Teardrop 13th November 2014 08:23 PM

Oops, sorry MTDS - didn't read the "I've already got this" bit before I opened my big mouth!

No problem Frankie, I just read up on the 4 second cut and have decided to watch that scene with one eye on my own erection to make up for the cut. I am sure the BBFC would approve.

According to Amazon reviewers for the US version. The UK release is the same as the Aussie one and runs for 85mins.

The US version runs 105 mins.

I can guess the bits they cut. Not going to say though as it includes spoilers. Quite right though, if the uk edition is cut get the us one!

I'm the opposite as I thought it was consistently funny and a brilliant satire on the general homogenisation of radio through corporate takeover.

I agree Nos, for what it was i really enjoyed the film and £3 is pocket change for a new DVD. The scene that made me laugh the most was him climbing out of the window and loosing his trousers. That was pure partridge! so damn funny.

I spent a day with the other half and picked these up at lunch. i haven't seen the prawn alien film and she hasn't seen the Bcollector so that was a nice price to give it a try. :)
