For me it's got to be when I went to see Master and Commander. Some guy had brought his child of about 5 (****ing 12a certificate) to see it. They sat behind us and as you can guess the kid talked throughout the film. "Daddy are those pirates, where are the pirates daddy, why are they letting those animals go free?". Plus he kept shaking the chair in front of him. I decided I was going to tell the dad perhaps he should take his child to see films he wants to see next time, but I wasn't going to do it until the kid went to the bathroom, but the child must have had a superbladder as he never went! After this I'm glad that (12a aside) the rating board is the way it is rather than the american one and their r rating. With employers at my local I've had little problem with and I think it's more customers than them being difficult. Only real problem was one (who no one liked) had told me to switch my phone off even though a) I was doing just that and b) the ads hadn't even started! Considering I go weekly to the cinema I've really lucked out in regards to bad experiences. |

I normally only go to the cinema if i really want to see something and have a good idea i will enjoy it, so generally my cinema viewing is positive. Only exceptions were when i watched a Lord of the rings film and the sound wasn't working for the first 5 minutes, really frustrating. Other than that my daughter wanted to see the first Twilight film, that was a struggle. Was also dragged to see a chick flick with an ex. "Boys on the side' i think it was called, god that was depressing. I seem to remember a scene where Drew barrymore flashed her tits tho, so it wasn't all bad. Other than that its the usual, some twats talking behind you. I turned round once and told 3 teenagers to shut the f*ck up because they were doing my head in.

Tank Girl. Being the last three people left at the end of Tank Girl. The other 14 people had left by the hour mark. |

Watching twishite, thankfully I walked out before the halfway point and still had some brain cells left.

I've had a couple of experiences where someone brings an obviously mentally ill relative with them, who then proceed to (literally) moan and groan throughout the entire film. It's not very pleasant.

My local forgets to shut off the lights when the film starts... a lot. Bridge of spies cutting off right near the end due to a hurricane blackout. Watching mimic and having the final reel projected upside down, breaking into the projectionists booth and discovering it was empty. Clear and present danger - realising it might not end. The Fog remake - realising I could have spent that money on beer. Nightmare on elm street remake - realising i'm continuing to help fund these abominations. The price of food & drink. Other people. That about covers it.... |
